Good Places to Go Metal Detecting

Metal Detecting

Treasure hunting and metal detecting can be a fun and even a profitable hobby to start. Metal detecting does not take much to start, all you need is a metal detector and even that you can get easily and inexpensively as shown in my previous article. Metal detecting can find you coins, precious metals, and even many interesting old finds such as antiques. You never know what you will find metal detecting.

While metal detecting can be fun for its own sake it does help improve your experience if you could actually find something and preferably find lots of valuables. Not every place is a good place to look if you are metal detecting. While some places may be bad places to look when metal detecting there are also many good places to look when metal detecting as well. If you know where the good metal detecting spots are then you will have a much better time metal detecting.

One place that is popular to metal detect at is the beach. Beaches get many items washed up on shore from all over the world. You never know where an item you might find on the beach could come from. The sand at the beach is also much easier to dig through then other spots which saves you time. Another reason the beach is a good location to go metal detecting is because often beaches have many people at them and those many people often lose things such as coins, and jewelery . So if you have a nearby beach then that should be one of your first stops.

Not everyone has a nearby beach though so where would be a good spot for them to look? Metal detecting near a railroad is a good idea. Often items may fall off a train, also depending where you are at people may have got on and off the train by just jumping on and off and lost items, in some places like California where there was the gold rush the miners often lived and worked near the train, other areas of the country also had people who lived and worked near the trains such as Cowboys, or buffalo hunters. The older the tracks the more likely you are to find something good. Obviously you should use caution when detecting near a railroad track and you should stay off the tracks.

Parks are also a good place to look for treasures with a metal detector. Parks have many people come to them and they often lose things like lose change. Besides parks areas where fairs or carnivals are held are even better as rides will often loose some change from people.

You can use a metal detector anywhere you want, and you may find treasures anywhere but if you want to be as productive as possible these locations are good options.
