Golden Corral’s Breakfast Buffet Review – Washington, IL

Golden Corral

On Sunday morning, my family and I decided that we wanted to go out to breakfast together. We wanted to do a brunch type of thing and wanted a buffet, so we decided to go to Golden Corral in Washington. I hadn’t had their breakfast buffet yet.

I was kind of worried that it was going to be expensive, because their lunch and dinner is very expensive. I was pleasantly surprised that their breakfast buffet was under $7 per person. Their breakfast buffet only runs on Saturday and Sundays from 7:00am-11:00am.

Golden Corral has 5 buffet lines and then an omelet making station. One buffet was full of quiches, waffles, pancakes, casseroles, and breakfast meats like ham, bacon, and sausage. Another buffet was full of different kids of juices and fruit and side items like cottage cheese and some fixin’ type things like cheese and bacon bits. The two small buffets contained items of bread like biscuits & gravy, toast, and potatoes. On the other small buffet line, it contained items for salad, which I thought was pretty interesting to have on a breakfast buffet. The final line was full of sweets like cookies and cakes and muffins!

Everything I ate was good! I couldn’t get over how wonderful their bacon was! It was crisp and not too greasy like most restaurants bacon can be. I didn’t realize they had the Omelet making station until after I was full. I would’ve loved to have tried one of them since I am a big omelet person. The fruit was unimpressive. It wasn’t ripe, so it was tough and bitter. Even my son didn’t really like it, and that says a lot, because he loves fruit. Other than that, I really liked everything that was put on my plate. Their french toast was very rich and seemed cooked to perfection. It was a little sweeter than I was used to, but that was okay. It was a good way to finish up my breakfast.

My husband went up for food three times! Now that tells you that it was good stuff! I definitely think that the food was well worth the value. I would definitely go back again! The atmosphere is a little blah, but that can be overlooked. It’s a restaurant that has been there for awhile, so that’s to be expected. I guess it could use a good remodel. I also don’t like how you have to go up and get a tray and get your drink and silverware and pay all at the same time, but I guess that’s a buffet for ya!

The staff is very friendly and accommodating to whatever your needs. Your dirty plates get whisked away quickly and your drink stays filled. They also make sure you have plenty of clean plates on your table, so you’re ready for your next round!

I give the Golden Corral breakfast buffet 3 1/2 out of 5 Tiaras on the Amy Gayle Scale. It would have received a higher rating, had the atmosphere been a little different.
