Glade Flameless Candle: What’s Hot and What’s Not

French Vanilla, Glade

As an avid lover of scented candles, these lovely additions to my home’s decor sadly were put up once children entered my life. In my house, we don’t advocate playing with matches. Furthermore, after my son blew out his very first birthday candle it was painfully obvious that candles were simply not safe to have around him for any extended period of time.

For nearly two years, I have pined to have the welcoming aroma of cinnamon or vanilla once again wafting through my living room, only if to mask the not so pleasant occasional odor of dirty diapers! The Glade Flameless Candle has finally come to my rescue!

With a retail price tag of $10, the Glade Flameless Candle may seem a bit extravagant. Yet, for a household with little children, I find it to be one fantastic little luxury that motherhood no longer deems necessary for me to give up! The greatest feature of this little gem is that I don’t have to worry about little fingers getting burned or inadvertently burning the house down. I can also leave it unattended completely worry free!

Operating the Glade Flameless Candle is very easy!

The Glade Flameless Candle provides continuing fragrance all the time and has a fragrance adjuster so I can determine how strong or light a scent I prefer. The flameless candle’s flickering movement is activated by pushing down gently on the candle. Once pressed, the candle will flicker and glow for either three hours, after which it automatically cuts off, or it can be turned off by simply pushing down gently on the candle a second time.

Assembling the Glade Flameless Candle is a tad bit trickier than other types of products available for purchase.

It is definitely a good idea to save the directions as it took me a little bit of practice, and several times of consulting the various diagrams and directions, to make sure my candle was properly assembled. Once it was together though, it was certainly worth it!

Another helpful hint to remember is that the Glade Flameless Candle has a glass holder. Since glass means breakable, it is still a candle, despite its flameless nature, that needs to be kept out of reach of small children.

The Glade Flameless Candle is an item I prefer to keep in a higher location for another reason. Since the candle unit itself very nearly reaches the rim of the glass holder, I really don’t like how the candle looks when I’m standing over it. Somehow, even the best imitation still screams imitation and it reminds me of this great big staring eye. Yet, by placing these candles over the fireplace, along the mantle, or in a somewhat higher spot in the house where I can’t see directly into the holder, I enjoy them perfectly!

Another nice selling feature was that the Glade Flameless Candle came with a $3.00 off coupon for a second Glade Flameless Candle and a $1.00 off coupon for a Glade Flameless Candle refill.

The coupon suggests giving the coupon to a friend or buying a second candle for your own self. While my personal jury is still out on what to do with the coupon, I’m sure any busy mom with small kids would simply love this!! It would make a perfect Valentine’s Day gift for mom from the kids, a nice hostess gift, or a perfect pampering gift for a new mom next time you need one! On the job, for loved ones in a retirement or nursing home, or at any other place where lighted candles aren’t allowed, this is truly a superb alternative!

The Glade Flameless Candle packaging says that refills are available in Apple Cinnamon, French Vanilla, Rainshower, Clean Linen, Hawaiian Breeze, and Suddenly Spring. However, in my area and in certain retail locations I have only been able to find French Vanilla and Clean Linen. Clean Linen I expect to find in the guest bathroom so I’m not particularly crazy about that scent. However, since French Vanilla is one of my personal favorites, I’m not complaining, yet.

I remain hopeful that this product will stick around long enough for me to snatch some Apple Cinnamon refills and pass this idea on to some other scented candle deprived moms! I’m still not sharing my coupons though! If I catch the candles on sale at $7.99 and use my $3.00 off coupon, then for under $5.00 I’m certainly treating myself again!
