Instructors are very important people. Without them there would be no college courses. There are some instructors that really do make a great impression on you and you want to buy them a gift at the holidays. But what makes a great gift for instructors? Candy: I think everyone loves candy. Buying a box of candy for your instructor makes a great holiday gift. It’s something you can easily transport to school without it getting broken or bent. If you have time, with finals and all, you may want to make homemade candy; this works out especially well if you have more than one instructor to buy a gift for.
Leather Dictionary: My favorite instructor of all time is all about learning new words. This is my English instructor, but there are other instructors who would also love this gift. A leather dictionary is a great gift because it allows them to keep broadening their minds and being bound in leather makes it even more special.
Book That You Enjoy: Most instructors are usually making you to read something during the semester. A great holiday gift is to buy them a book that you enjoy. Everyone loves to learn about new books that they have yet to discover. Sharing your favorite book with them will also let them learn a little more about you.
Leather Binder: Instructors have to keep up with so many papers. A leather binder makes a great gift because it ensures they don’t lose any of those papers. Can you image your research paper, which you’ve spent hours on, getting lost? Help ensure that this doesn’t happen to future students by buying your instructor this gift.
Planner: A planner makes a wonderful gift for an instructor. Can you image keeping up with assignment and test dates for seven or eight classes? Not to mention meetings with faculty and appointments with students. Then there’s the instructors home life to be kept up with as well. I just don’t know how they keep up with it all. This gift will help them though. A large planner that has space enough to write several things down on one day is very important.
Calendar: Along with a planner, a calendar helps to ensure an instructor keeps up with everything they have to do. Something that they might do is keep up their home life on a planner and their school life on a calendar.
Subject Related Gift: This can be a really fun gift to shop for. For example, for your biology instructor you could buy an old science textbook off eBay. When I say old, I don’t mean old and ratty, I mean an old textbook from like the 1950s. It’s always fun to see how much science has changed since then. Another example would be to buy your English instructor a leather bound edition of a classic novel, such as Moby Dick.
These gifts are gifts that your instructor is sure to like. If you are still at a loss as to what to get them, buy them a gift card. If you honestly can’t afford to buy your instructor a gift, give them a greeting card and explain how much their teaching meant to you. Another idea is if you’re a crafter and have the materials at home, make them a gift that way. Either way, let your favorite instructors know how important they are, sometimes it’s easy for them to forget how important they are.
