In the South, fall not only brings us the cooler temperatures, but the fun and excitement of the local county fairs.
The annual Eton County Fair starts Saturday, offering a two day event filled with good food, fun and entertainment for all ages. Events begin at 8am and run throughout both days.
There will be a car, truck and tractor show on Saturday. This year’s categories are- best street rod, street machines, trucks, imports, originals, best of show, best participant and Santa’s choice. Registration for the car show will be 8am-11am, judging begins at noon with awards presented at 3pm.
A motorcycle show will be held on Sunday. This year’s categories are- best domestic, custom, antique and people’s choice. Registration for the motorcycle show will be from 8am-11am, judging begins at noon, with awards presented at 3pm.
The Eton pageants will be held outside at 8am on Saturday morning.
An ‘Eton Idol’ singing competition will be held on Saturday, complete with three judges playing the parts of Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell, offering constructive and humorous criticism to the contestants. There will be two separate groups of contestants for the Eton Idol competition, for children 14 and younger, the competition will be held at 6pm, for contestants 15 and over, the idol competition will begin at 8pm. There is no entry fee for contestants, but it will cost $1 to cast your vote for your favorite Eton Idol.
Musical entertainment will be provided both days by local bands including Volunteers For The Lord, Autumn Harvest, The Holly Creek Quartet, Eight Days After and Simply Forgiven. Bring your lawn chairs and just sit back and enjoy the good music.
Vendors selling a variety of homemade food items and craft items will be set up on the fair grounds. The vendors have been encouraged to decorate their booths for prize money, so just looking at the vendor’s booths will be entertaining.
Eton is a small community just north of Chatsworth, GA. and the County Fair will be held in city Park.
Take 411 north from Chatsworth, at the traffic light in Eton, turn right on CCC Camp Road, go across the rail road tracks and City Park will be on your left.
Admission for the two day event is free. Come early and stay late.
