A birthday party with a fishing theme offers a number of game options, and store bought games are not required. My son and his fiancé recently moved into a charming little fishing cottage on a lake, and my eight year old grandson wanted a birthday party with a fishing theme. His mother came up with a number of fantastic game ideas, and all of the kids had a fabulous time. I helped set up each birthday party game, and I came up with a few ideas of my own.
Paint Red and White Bobber Eggs to Hold Candy Prizes
Red and white plastic bobbers are popular fishing implements, and the red and white design can become the theme of a fun birthday party game. My future daughter-in-law purchased white plastic Easter eggs and red spray paint. She took them apart and painted half of each one red. As the picture shows, they looked like bobbers. She used them for a birthday party egg hunt with a fishing theme. She filled the eggs with candy and hid them throughout the backyard. The kids had a blast finding all of the eggs, and the game fit the fishing theme. It was a very creative idea for a birthday party with a fishing theme, and I was impressed with her ideas.
Make an Easy Fishing Game for the Birthday Party
My future daughter-in-law came up a few other fantastic game ideas for my grandson’s birthday party, and they all fit the fishing theme. She drew a big fish with huge lips on a piece of white construction paper. She colored the fish and glued it to a sheet of blue construction paper. She hung it on a door and numbered peel and stick tabs for the kids. The tabs served as the fishing hooks. She lined up the kids and used as scarf to blindfold them one at a time. Each child tried their best to stick the paper hook to the fish’s mouth. The child that stuck their paper hook closest to the center of the mouth won the fishing game.
Hold a Biggest Fish Drawing
The next birthday party game was easy but lots of fun. My future daughter-in-law drew fish on individual pieces of paper. She folded up the papers and placed them in a fishbowl. The kids took turns pulling a folded paper out of the bowl. The child that had the biggest fish won the birthday party drawing. The fishing game was the luck of the draw, but it was still a lot of fun.
Set Up a Toss the Bobber Birthday Party Game
My future daughter-in-law also purchased ping pong balls for the birthday party. She covered half of each ball with masking tape and painted the other have of each one red. We lined up five colorful plastic pails and had the kids stand behind a piece of wood that represented a line. Each child had eight chances to toss the bobber balls into each of the buckets. The child that reached the furthest bucket won the game. All of the kids missed bucket four the first time around, and I suggested a tie-breaker. One child was able to reach the fourth bucket and won the game.
My grandson’s birthday party with a fishing theme was a huge success. All of the kids had a great time, and each child received at least one prize. If one of the kid’s would not have won a prize, my future daughter-in-law would have given the extras away. She made sure that no one went home unhappy. Everyone wants to win, and everyone was a winner at my grandson’s birthday party.
