Fun and Unusual Family Vacations

Family Vacations, Great White Sharks

As the summer slowly fades away, I find myself looking around and rushing to plan a late vacation. After all football season is right around the corner and that is must see tv, folks. I’m sure there are plenty of families that get tired of the same old routine trip to the mountains or beaches to get away from the pains of everyday life. However, today we are going to talk about some fun and unusual family vacations that just may make some of you at home deviate away from the norm and venture off into the unknown.

Now I guess it all depends on your idea of fun and unusual family vacations but deep sea diving with sharks certainly fits the bill in my opinion. Of course this is likely to be considered dangerous to some individuals but usually these are very safe situations controlled by the tour guides. There are several places off the coasts of Florida and California to go and swim underwater with sharks ranging from schools of hammerheads to giant whale sharks. Of course off the coast of San Francisco there are some cage tours that offer encounters with great white sharks if you feel brave.

If the adventure above is seen as too dangerous then perhaps the next of these fun and unusual family vacations will seem more reasonable to those at home. I’m talking about white water rafting which is a good step down from swimming with sharks. But this one of the more fun and unusual family vacations all the same. I plan on doing this one of the upcoming weekends and cannot wait to get out there on the water and ease all my worries. This an interesting activity but it also gets you outside and ads a bit of excitement rather than boarding at the beach.

The last thing that I want to talk about here today in terms of fun and unusual family vacations is underwater hotels and areas. This is exactly what it sounds like because in some areas there are underwater hotels and small cities that visitors have to either dive or take small submarines to reach as a guest. How many people can claim that they spent the night in an underwater hotel and shopped in an underwater city? Off the coast of Key Largo, Florida there is one such place that has been operating since 1986. This one allows tourists to sleep 20-feet below the surface and would likely be one of the more fun and unusual family vacations for most individuals in my opinion.

Hopefully this article gave those itching to get out of the house some ideas to build upon for their next trip out of the ordinary. I believe my next journey will lead me white water rafting and camping in southern Tennessee on the Ocoee. Wish me luck and hopefully somebody will be able to take their loved ones on some fun and unusual family vacations in the future.
