Foreigner’s Top Hits

Double Vision

A rock band formed in 1976 by two veteran musicians, Mick Jones and Ian McDonald, and unknown vocalist Lou Gramm, Foreigner quickly became one of the more popular new voices in the industry. With its “arena rock” style, Foreigner touched millions, paving the way for two decades of success.

Their first album was simply named Foreigner, released in 1977. It stayed in the Top 20 for a year. This album which includes such great hits as “Feels Like the First Time” and “Cold As Ice” went on to sell more than four million copies. In their next album, Double Vision, released in 1978, Foreigner gave us more of their great arena rock with such songs as “Hot Blooded”, and the title track, “Double Vision. While “Double Vision”, “Cold As Ice” and “Hot Blooded” are great fun to hear and sing along with, the most powerful song in these two albums was “Feels Like the First Time. Not only was it some great easy listening, it became one of the hottest make-out songs of the late ’70s and early ’80s.

Referred to as their “grainiest” album, Foreigner released Head Games in 1979. It may not have been as popular as its predecessors, but Head Games was successful due to its content. In this album which was an attempt to go back to basics, they included the title track “Head Games” and the harsh “Dirty White Boy”. Then, it was the ’80s in which the band made some changes, and brought in a new player.

Rick Wills came on board to play bass, and with his help the band would go on to create a few more great love songs. In the fourth album quite simply titled 4, Foreigner gave us a truly cool rock song, “Jukebox Hero. It was the next album, AgentProvocateur in which the band released their only #1 hit, the sexy “I Want to Know What Love Is”. In the sixth album, Inside Information they released the great, heavy “Say You Will”, and the hot “I Don’t Want to Live Without You”.

Listed below are my top ten favorite Foreigner songs. They were all great. They were all fun to listen to. They all made me feel one thing or another. Songs like “I Don’t Want to Live Without You”, “I Want to Know What Love Is”, and “Feels Like The First Time” were the few that effected me the most. Not only are they heartfelt and deep in their meaning, but they also touch the heart in just the right way to make any romantic situation that much more powerful.
