I interviewed KUBA Ka and asked him to go into detail about his experience meeting the reality show celebrity, and former member of the group Public Enemy – Flavor Flav.
This is what he said.
“Since my very first meeting with Flavor Flav at SLS Hotel in LA, we became the best of friends. Him and I make a bomb pack, wherever we go, it’s an adventure! After just meeting him, he took me and my friends to a basketball game in Downtown LA. Afterwards we drove around LA in his big Cadillac SUV, and he was showing me all the many sites of the city. We started joking around about him and I doing a song together. We started freestyle singing and rapping about my arrival to America . As we drove around the city a thought popped in my head about the movie – Coming To America starring Eddie Murphy. I said jokingly how about we call the song Come To America?
Flav then invited my team and me to a 4th of July mega party at his mansion in Las Vegas . That was something else, I flew to Vegas and Flav was waiting at the airport to pick us up. He even upgraded my single room at the Mandalay Bay , to a lavishing two floor penthouse at Caesars Palace . I was treated like a king!
“It’s a fantasy connection that I have with Flav. The next day he came and picked us up at the hotel for another ride of adventure, but this time it was around Las Vegas . I could hear my song – Streets of Freedom from a far distance very loud as Flav got closer to the hotel I can see him bouncing in his seat jamming to my song. Flav loves my song so much that wherever we go he puts it on the highest volume.
Of course by now my record label had heard about Flav and my adventures together. They said what about you and Flav rocking all the parties? Do a song together! I was like – Yeah, we actually already have the perfect song. So I played them (the label) a voicemail of Flavor Flav singing the song we already created together. Every time Flav called me he would begin the conversation by singing our song to me.
Well, we did it, and we did it big at Palms Studio in Las Vegas . Flav and I arrived to the studio one evening and here we go, and we did decide to title the song – Come To America.
“But there was never any talk about, let’s release it and make money; it was pure fun – with only a fun purpose!
If you think that stories of meeting an American superstar in the valet parking of a hotel, and then becoming best friends only happens in the movies, you might be mistaken- this is my story how I met and became best buddies with Flavor Flav, and I know that I can count on him in any situation.
