Five Sunblock Sprays to Combat UV Rays

Hawaiian Tropic, Helioplex, SPF, Sunblock

As summer inches ever closer, sun screens are beginning to dot store shelves and displays. While lotions are nice to use, if you are in a hurry you are probably looking for something a bit more convenient and instantaneous to use. What you need is a sunblock spray! Who doesn’t love SPF with a nozzle? This article is going to discuss five different brands.

Hawaiian Tropic SPF 12 Sunblock Spray

Hawaiian Tropic offers an SPF 12 sunblock spray for $9.99. Ten dollars is a lot of money to a lot of people these days. While it is hard to find a sunblock spray that isn’t in this price range, most of them do offer 5 ounces of product. This Hawaiian Tropic sunblock spray only comes with 4 ounces which will leave you with an average price of $2.50 per ounce. The product does, however, have some perks. It is alcohol free, which is very good news. Many body lotions and similar products contain alcohol to promote product absorption, but for a product that advertises itself as ultra moisturizing, alcohol would present a bit of any oxymoron. The moisturizing aspect of Hawaiian Tropic comes from a blend of tanning oils and Aloe Vera, Coconut Oils, and a mixture of skin-friendly vitamins.

Neutrogena Kids Spray SPF 70

Neutrogena has a kid-friendly spray with an SPF of 70. You get 5 ounces for a price tag of $10.99. This sunblock spray will protect your child from both UVA and UVB rays. The spray is long-lasting and waterproof which would make it ideal for long days at the pool. As an added bonus, this product contains no oils or PABA (Para-Amino Benzoic Acid), so even a child with sensitive skin should feel comfortable with this sunblock.

Solar Sense Clear Zinc Sport Spray SPF 50

For $10.99 you could also pick up the Solar Sense Clear Zinc Sport Spray SPF 50 in a five ounce spray bottle. This sunblock sprays on white and dries clear to ensure you get every last inch covered. An added benefit for acne sufferers is that this formula will not clog your skin’s pores. Solar Sense sunblock spray offers “broad spectrum” UVA/UVB protection. It is waterproof, and it isn’t greasy – so no worrying about slipping on the way up the slide ladder!

Neutrogena Ultimate Sport Spray, SPF 70

Another 5 ounce spray sunblock with a cost of $10.99 is the Neutrogena Ultimate Sport Spray, SPF 70. This product really makes itself sound like the Cadillac of sunblock sprays when you read about it. It “is the first sunblock to contain patented Helioplex® technology to strengthen skin’s own defense against UV rays and an electrolyte complex to help nourish and restore skin balance.” While that sounds pretty hefty, it is a fancy way to say that it will protect you from UV rays and contains ingredients that will help replenish your skin while it is exposed to the sun (mainly moisturizers). This product does not clog pores, so it would be great for teenagers or acne-prone adults and it is oil & PABA free, making it a good option for people with sensitive skin.

Aveeno Continuous Protection Sunblock Spray SPF 70

Our last sunblock spray comes from Aveeno and is a Continuous Protect Spray with an SPF 70 ranking. A 5 ounce spray bottle once again comes in at $10.99. This spray offers UVA and UVB Protection and is not only waterproof, but sweat proof as well. Test results state that it retains its SPF even after 80 minutes of water activity and/or perspiration. It would be a great fit for an outdoor activity enthusiast, such as a jogger, cyclist, or hiker, to use in the summer months.
