Five Easy Holiday Table Centerpiece Ideas

Table Centerpieces

There are lots of easy ways to create beautiful holiday table centerpieces. Start by looking through your holiday décor for materials and ideas. You may be surprised by what you can make with items you already have on hand. If you need things like glass vases, baskets, ribbon or tea light candles, you can usually find these types of items at a dollar store. I had most of the following items on hand when coming up with ideas for holiday table centerpieces.

Christmas Presents with Garland Centerpiece
This holiday centerpiece is super easy and very attractive. Find three small boxes that you can wrap in your prettiest holiday wrapping paper. Square or rectangular boxes work best so that you can stack them from largest to smallest. Just make sure the largest box won’t take up too much space in the middle of your table. Wrap each box and embellish with decorative ribbon and bows. Place the boxes in the center of the table and use Garland or pine boughs as a decorative border. If you decide to add a couple of candles to your display, make sure they are in glass votive holders so your centerpiece doesn’t go up in flames!

Candlelight Glass Ornament with Garland Centerpiece
For this centerpiece, you will need a large, white serving platter. Use double sided tape to secure garland around the edge of the platter and trim any excess. Place three white pillar candles of varying heights in the middle of the platter. Fill in the rest of the platter with round glass ornaments. Use a color scheme for the garland and ornaments such as silver and gold or silver and blue. The candlelight will reflect off of the glass ornaments and garland for a sparkling display.

Winter Wonderland Centerpiece
This centerpiece idea looks great when you make two of them for an extra-long table. All you need to do is place white sparkle Manzanita branches in a glass vase. For further embellishments, you can drape a glass bead garland through the branches, hang crystal strands or place small tea lights around each vase.

Ribbon Pillars with Pinecones Centerpiece
This easy centerpiece will only take you a few minutes to create. Use any type of pillar candles in holiday colors such as white, red or green. For safety issues, it is best to place the candles in clear glass votive holders. However, if you don’t have any, you can tie a decorative ribbon around the middle of the candle. Just be sure to closely monitor the candle when it’s burning to make sure the flame doesn’t get too close to the ribbon. Arrange the candles and pinecones together in the center of the table. Add embellishments such as pine boughs, leftover ornaments, seed pods, nuts in the shell, oranges and cranberries.

Gumdrop Christmas Trees

I remember watching my mother make gumdrop trees when I was a kid. Here are the materials you will need to make gum drop Christmas trees:

  • Styrofoam cones
  • Wooden toothpicks
  • Gumdrops

Try to find different sizes of Styrofoam cones for an interesting display. Starting at the bottom of the cone, stick one end of the toothpick about half way through the flat bottom of the gumdrop. Stick the other end of the toothpick into the Styrofoam cone. Work your way up from the bottom, placing the gumdrops as close to each other and the foam as you can get them. You can make multicolored trees or try colorful patterns. Use all green gumdrops with randomly placed yellow, red and violet gumdrops to represent lights or try using red and white gumdrops in a striped diagonal pattern for a candy cane gumdrop tree.
