Fire Fighter / Fire Truck Birthday Party Theme for Boys

Fire Fighting, Fire Trucks

Boys adore fire fighters and fire trucks. Take this love and make a magical birthday party that will create life long memories for your child. A little creativity will go a long way!

Location

If you happen to live near a fire department, they may be willing to rent out the meeting room and have a fire fighter there to let the kids see and touch the trucks. One of the volunteer fire stations near me does this at a very reasonable cost. The location alone can bring delight to the guests. If you cannot get the fire station, you can decorate a living room, backyard or other meeting location in a festive manner.

Invitations

Have fun with the invitations! Play with the shapes. It could be fire trucks, fire fighter or even burning building shaped. The kids will be excited by the invitations and want to come to the party.

Decorations

There are great decorations available. Bright fire engine red streamers, cutouts of fire trucks and fire hats, pictures of fire coats and other fire gear can all be used. Also, ask your local fire department or party supply store for fire fighter helmets and badges for each guest.

Cake

This is one area where you can have a lot of fun. My oldest son wanted a fire fighter themed cake for one birthday. He wanted a burning building with two fire fighting mice. Using fondant skills that I learned watching TV experts, I went to town, creating an elaborate cake. If you are willing to undertake the challenge, here is one fire truck to try.

Party Games

Fire Fighter Tug o’ War: Divide the children up into two teams. Have each child put on his or her fire fighter hat. Place one team on each end of a length of old garden hose. Make a line in the center on the ground. Have the two teams pull until one team pulls the other over the center line. The team that pulls the other over is the winner.

Pin the Fire Fighter on the Truck: Create a large fire truck, approximately 3 feet long. Decorate it out to include the cab, ladders and hoses. Place it on a wall. Also, create a separate fire fighter in full gear. Blind fold the child and spin him or her around twice and give him the fire fighter with painters tape on the back of it. Point him towards the fire engine on the wall. The closest to the cab, wins a prize.

Fire Truck Races: Cut the top and the bottom off of cardboard boxes. Paint the boxes red, then paint on fire truck designs. Add in some straps from front to back for the kids to wear over their shoulders. Have the kids race their “fire trucks” by running between two points.

Party Favors

Create goodie bags with fire fighter themed pencils and erasers, fireball candies, fire truck cars and stickers.
