When I found out Bob Barker would be retiring from his 35 year career as host of the popular game show, The Price is Right. I became a bit sad and nostalgic. I had grown to love him not only as a game show host , but for his contributions to the plight of homeless animals. Who can forget Bob Barker encouraging viewers to spay and neuter their animals at the end of every show? I can imagine all the animal lives he may have saved just by uttering that simple phrase at the end of every taping of the Price is Right. Being in the limelight certainly gives you a social platform, doesn’t it? I was relieved to hear he may be considering a return to the show as a fill in if a replacement isn’t found.
To honor Bob Barker and his contributions, I’ve listed some of his quotes. Some you may have heard and others just might surprise you. Here they are:

Some things you might not realize about Bob Barker is he’s actually 6’1″ in height! Who would have known? I guess it’s hard to judge height on television. He also had a college degree in Economics from Drury College in Massachusetts. It also might surprise you to know the prize for winning contestants on the The Price is Right during the first few years of it’s existence was fur coats! Of course, this practice ended when Bob Barker became involved in animal rights. He’s also a vegetarian, has a Black Belt in karate, and is the country’s oldest game show host.
I’m sorry to hear the news of Bob Barker retiring, but am pleased to know he made a contribution and touched the lives of both humans and animals.
