Family Friendly Restaurants in Galveston, Texas for Under $10

Galveston Texas

When vacationing with the family finding local restarants that are family friendly and within your budget is not always easy, if you want to stay out of McDonald’s that is. If you will be traveling to Galveston, Texas this summer there are a few great restaurant options for you and your family to enjoy after a day at the beach.

Here are three family friendly restaurants for you to enjoy while vacationing in Galveston that will cost you less than ten dollars per person.

New York Pizzeria
500 Seawall Blvd. Suite 300, Galveston

Right on Seawall Blvd, New York Pizzeria is located right across the street from the beach. The family friendly pizzeria has both indoor and outdoor seating; the side walk seating has seen its share of swimsuit, and cover up clad patrons grabbing a bite before returning to the beach. The pizzeria specialty is of course pizza, and it is served in giant slices that will satisfy even the biggest appetite.

Fresh ingredients are piled on top of every slice of the hand tossed, specialty pizzas- no skimping here. Simple cheese and pepperoni, brick oven pizzas can be ordered for the kids, while mom and dad try out the feta cheese, prosciutto ham, and fresh basil ingredients.

McAlister’s Deli
6612 Seawall Blvd., Galveston

On the other side of the island, also along Seawall you will find the bright, McAlister’s Deli. This busy restaurant is a favorite of both the locals and the tourists so be sure to schedule your visit before or after the lunch rush.

The menu consists of hearty soups and sandwiches, with a small menu of Texas-sized, topping loaded spuds. With a large selection of sandwiches, melts and wraps there is plenty room for selection. Even picky eaters will find something to their liking on the children’s menu.

Just about every item on the menu is under seven dollars, so every meal should cost less than ten dollars.

The Sunflower Bakery and Cafe
512 14th Street, Galveston

The Sunflower Bakery and Cafe is the only selection I have included that is not located right off of the beach; still it is worth your consideration. The small bakery and cafe is frequented by the local populace out shopping, those on their lunch break and a small number of tourists.

Indoor and outdoor seating are both available and inviting for families, though the pastry and cookie lined counters might prove to be too much of a distraction for children. If you are in need of a distraction though, while waiting for your food you could let the kids choose a dessert or allow them to browse the small gift shop attached to the cafe.

As for the menu, not everything is under ten dollars, but there is plenty that is. The usual cafe fare takes on a special twist the Sunflower Cafe with selections like avocado halves filled with your choice of salad or chicken and avocado topped corn cake. There is not a specifically set children’s menu but any dish can be portioned down by just asking.
