Dogs have been around for many many years and over the years there have been some of the most unusual, exotic and unusual dogs. Some huge, some medium, some, small and tiny, and others are the most unusual of them all with little or no hair. Some have lots of fur and that makes them funny looking. 1. The Chinese Crested

The Chinese Crested is of the Toy breed and comes in two different varieties, the Hairless and the Powderpuff. The Hairless has soft and silky hair on the head, tail and feet, and the rest of the animal is hairless.

2. Chow Chow

Chows are powerful and sturdy animals, medium build and muscular. An ancient breed that originated from China. Worked at one time as a working time, now a companion and is shown in dog shows. Comes in red, blue, black, cinnamon, and cream. Is known for having a blue black tongues.

3. Peruvian Hairless

Origins from the pre-Inca cultures. This dog is supposed to be completely hairless, but can have some on the head, feet and tip of its tail. Noble and affectionate. Lively and alert. Wary and suspicious of strangers. Protective. Hate to be alone, but can be trained to be. An indoors or outdoors animal.

4. Canaan Dog

A herder and a guardian dog. Originated from the Middle East. Aloof with people they do not know, curious, loyal, and loving to those they know. Medium in size, square body, clear and sharp. Athletic, graceful, and brisk gait. Wedge shaped head, erect ears, bushy tail and a double coat that lies flat.

5. Labradoodle

Unique and fascinating dog. A cross between a Labrador retriever and the standard poodle. Sociable, friendly, are not aggressive, and intuitive. Intelligent, great to train. Great for guide dogs, therapy, and assistance dogs. They have non-allegeric coats.

6. Keeshound

Keehounds are a handsome dog, well balanced, short bodied. Alert and intelligent. Tail is full, and curled back over his back. Has a fox like expression and small pointed ears. Thick coat. Not timid or aggressive. Outgoing, friendly, lively, affectionate.

7. Newfoundland Dog

9. Afghan Hound

Aristocratic, dignified and aloof. Covered in thick and silky hair. Very fine. Come in all colors. Excellent hunter. Individual personality. Regular grooming and exercise.

10. Basenji

Posed, elegant dog. Barkless. Originated from Africa. Muscular, agile and ease. Lightly built, wrinkled head and high curled tail. Habits are fastidious, love to be active and playful. Independent and aloof. Minimal grooming. No dog odor.
