Excite Email – Avoid All the Spam

Junk Email, Junk Mail, Yahoo Email

I have had many different email addresses over the years and nearly all of them are bombarded with spam each day. Yahoo, Hotmail and Gmail all get their fair share of junk mail, most of it gets filtered but often times I have to search through loads of junk mail to make sure nothing important got tossed into junk mail by accident. This is not what I want from an email provider, but there is hope. I have also had an Excite.com email address and out of all four email address that I have this one is the best. I have had it for over 10 years and it gets the least amount of junk email.

So yeah you heard right Excite.com, it’s relatively unheard of when ever I tell people my email address they are surprised and ask why I don’t get a Yahoo or Gmail account. I of course tell them that I don’t like the big name emails because they get spammed so much, and my Excite address gets maybe two a week on a bad week. I don’t know if since Excite isn’t well known and widely used if that is why my email hasn’t been attacked by floods of spam or if they just have really great protection but what ever it is, I like it.

I did some comparisons over a few weeks using all four of my email addresses and you would be shocked at the amount of spam that I have received in all of my Inbox’s. Yahoo got the most junk mail, with Hotmail a close second, Gmail was pretty good and Excite blew them all out of the water. I also have attribute Gmail’s lack of junk with the fact I have had the address less than a year and only use it with my Google related projects. (which isn’t much).

Yahoo was getting an average of about 60 to 130 junk emails a day, and worst of all some of my friends email was getting thrown into the bulk folder so I had to sort through it all and flag them as good emails. I don’t use this address for anything more than an account I have with Associated Content, yet I get so much junk mail. I assume Yahoo whores out their email addresses for a profit, I have no proof of this but everyone I know with a Yahoo email address gets a ton of spam daily.

I do like Yahoo because it has some cool abilities that I used to use when I was in high school but have since out grown. But back in the day when I created my user account I used all the functions of the email service. Now I have no need for an avatar (which is a cartoonish version of me I can customize) it’s just childish and useless. I got the yahoo email address when I created my Yahoo user ID for chatting and have only used it for my AC account. Yet I still get mass amounts of spam so I steer clear of using this for much, sometimes I have friends send things to this account because it’s easier to get some files but other than that spam kills Yahoo for me.

Hotmail was second in spam, I got probably 20 to 50 a day which isn’t to bad but still who wants to deal with sorting through their bulk folder to make sure they don’t throw away something important. I sure don’t, but I will admit that I use this email address as a signup address. By that I mean any website that requires you enter an email address to look at the content; I use my Hotmail account which is probably why I get this much spam. Before I used this address for such a purpose I didn’t get nearly as much probably 10 a day. I also use this email address for contacts with people on my MSN messenger list because it’s easily integrated. Other than this I don’t really use it much. But it still ranks third on my list of good email addresses.

Gmail was pretty good with the spam not more than 5 to 10 a day and most of the times none. But still I never use this thing for much so I am not sure why it’s getting spammed at all. I use it in relation to all of my Google use, which is primarily using their search engine, but also Google local, Apps and Docs, Checkout, Books, Maps, etc…but overall a good email address to keep around with minimal spam.

Now the best for me is Excites’ email address I get no more than 2 to 4 junk emails a week! I use this email address for everything you can think of, and I get very little spam. Also I want to mention that I have had this email address since I bought my first computer in 1997, so in ten years I still only get a few spam emails a week. That is pretty impressive considering Yahoo gives me over a hundred daily.

Excite is a very reliable email provider and has a lot of tools to help you customize and personalize your emails. They give you over a gig of space on their servers for a free account. It’s a very easy to use email system with a lot of cool options for your homepage. I recommend anyone who wants to avoid all the spam, get an Excite.com email address and see what I am talking about.
