Evernotes – the Lazy Person’s Research Tool

Kindle Fire

I spend a good amount of time every day researching and reading the news. For a long time, much of that research went to waste. You see, I am basically a lazy person and much of my past research was lost because I did not take adequate notes. That problem is now solved thanks to Evernotes. It is the lazy person’s research tool!

In my pre-Kindle Fire days, I would read the news online with a notebook beside me and tried to take copious notes. The initial notes of the day were clear and concise, but by the end of my research session the notes were shorter and harder to read.

After all the time I spent writing my notes, I could forget about finding something later when I was ready to write an article. It was impossible to dig through all the notebooks and loose sheets of paper to find anything of value. Bookmarking websites did not work either because I did not have information about why I decided they were important enough to bookmark. The entire research situation was getting out of hand.

Then I got the Kindle Fire and discovered Evernotes. Wow! What a difference. Suddenly all my notes were in one place and easily searchable. I happily went about setting up notebooks for crafts, news, politics, writing and household notes.

After playing with Evernotes on the Kindle Fire, I set this robust application up on my laptop and desktop. I thought the mobile application was easy to use! The Windows version is also simple, intuitive and straight forward. Now my notes are available to me no matter which machine I am using. It does not matter what type of device you are using, from the Mac to Windows to Android – Evernotes has you covered.

Not only is the Evernotes application robust, it is also very easy to use. While browsing the internet, simply use the web-clipper to save webpages. This not only saves the link, like a bookmark utility, it saves the entire page – images and all. Now, when I am pulling my research together into an article, I do not have to be online. All the information is at my fingertips through Evernotes. That helps me maintain my discipline by keeping me from continuing to browse the internet in the guise of ‘research’.

I organize my clippings and notes as I make them. This saves me the time of having to go back and organize later. It only takes a few clicks to organize as you go.

The ability to have separate notebooks for each topic that I research helps me find my notes and saved webpages exceedingly easy. If I want to write a political piece I simply go to my politics notebook and find a topic that strikes my fancy and read the notes that I have saved. Evernotes makes it all amazingly simple and stress-free.

For notes, webpages, images, videos, and voice memos, you will not find another application as straightforward and trouble-free as Evernotes. Thanks to this application, I no longer have to spend the mental energy sorting through endless documents. My thoughts, no matter how trivial or fleeting, are all captured in Evernotes. It is truly the lazy person’s research tool!
