Energizer Easy Charger- for Rechargeable Batteries Review (For AA and AAA Batteries)

Energizer, Rechargeable Battery

Energizer rechargeable battery charger

This is a review for the Energizer Easy charger, which is made to recharge special rechargeable batteries to help save you money. The official Energizer website no longer carries this battery charger, but I have still seen them around from time to time. If you can’t find one in a store and you are looking to purchase one, you can still get them from online dealers. I bought my charger several years ago for about $10, but there are a few places still selling this battery charger for around $30.

Pros and cons

I’ll keep this review short and get straight to the point. The charger does a great job with charging the batteries and I have used it for years now. It does a great job doing its job and you can normally have working batteries within four to six hours. You just plug the battery charger into the wall and press the On button, the red light turns on and you know it is charging. When the red light goes off and the green light comes on you know that the charger is done. To make sure that the batteries don’t overcharge it has a built in auto shut off function. I normally leave mine running over night and in the morning I find the batteries nice and charged. The Energizer easy charger can charge both double and Triple A batteries because it has a neat little flip down battery holder so that both types of batteries fit without any problems.

So what is the problem?

The problem is the rechargeable batteries it comes with. I still have my batteries, but most people will tell you that they don’t hold their charge for very long. I normally use my batteries for wireless Xbox controllers. Back when I first bought the charger I kept tripping over the cords to my Xbox controllers, so to fix the problem I went wireless. After about two hours of gaming the batteries would be dead. Now my Xbox controller wasn’t really power hungry and I only got about two hours of battery life, so imagine if you used it for something bigger like a digital camera? In fact, that is exactly what I did. I was able to take a couple of pictures with the camera before the batteries died out on me and had to be recharged. After a couple of years the batteries have now completely died and the charger’s lights keep flashing red and green to let me know that there is a problem with them. I suppose if you use the batteries for a TV remote they will do fine, but anything bigger than that and they won’t last long.
The bottom line, the Energizer battery charger works great, the batteries don’t.

If you buy one I recommend that you try a different brand of rechargeable batteries to see how they hold up with this charger.
