Easy Flea Market Display Stands for Increased Sales

Flea market vendors know that presenting their merchandise in a neat and orderly fashion increases sales. They know that customers will not buy things that they cannot see, and they know that catching a passer-by’s eye is the most important thing in a sea of other flea market vendor’s booths and tables.

But how should a regular flea market vendor do this? Through the use of display stands and cases. If you do some research, you can find a lot of companies that sell fancy wood, metal, acrylic, and fabric display stands in all sizes and shapes. They cost anywhere from just a few dollars to hundreds. Purchasing enough to utilize the space on your flea market table effectively is not cost effective in many cases.

Instead of buying these flea market display stands, you can easily make them out of simple, inexpensive products.

Display Risers and Platforms

To catch a customer’s eye at the flea market, you should display your finer or more unusual wares above the others on your table. You can make easy display risers and platforms from small cardboard boxes, like shoe boxes, and attractive contact paper. You can get the sticky contact paper in lovely backdrop patterns like black marble or wood grain, or solid colors. Remember, you do not want the pattern to detract from your merchandise.

Simply cover the cardboard box with the contact paper neatly and you have a very inexpensive but effective flea market display stand.

Easy Jewelry Displays

To make quick and easy jewelry displays, you can use sturdy cardboard and felt fabric. For necklaces, cut out a bib shaped cardboard and glue on a piece of sold color felt. For earring displays, you can cut a smaller piece of cardboard and hook the earrings through the felt. You can also use a block of foam covered with felt or other fabric and push the posts into it.

Bracelets can be displayed attractively on a cardboard paper towel tube, or wrapping paper tube, covered with felt. Likewise, you can display rings on a dowel covered with fabric.

Locked Display Case

If you sell small items that would be attractive to thieves, you might want to put them in a locked, glass-topped display case. Making one of these requires a bit more expense and expertise than a simple flea market display stand.

Start by constructing a basic box out of wooden laths and plywood or paneling for the base. Line it with felt or other fabric by simply gluing it on. Then, choose an attractive glass-front picture frame that is the same size as the case. Securely glue the glass into the picture frame and remove the back cardboard. Attach hinges and a hasp for a small padlock, and simply screw the whole thing together.

Making your own flea market display stands is quick, easy, and cost effective. With the simplest materials, you can make attractive displays that will attract customers to your booth or table. Once there, the display stands will improve visibility of your merchandise and should greatly increase the profits that the average flea market vendor makes.
