Early Predictions for Every 2013 New Orleans Saints Game: Fan’s Opinion

Super Bowl 44

2013 New Orleans Saints opponents

I don’t need to remind New Orleans Saints’ fans how difficult 2012 was. From the bounty scandal off the field to a 7-9 record on the field, the Saints can’t wait to finally turn the calendar to 2013. Fortunately, New Orleans signed Drew Brees and Sean Payton to long-term contracts, which should ensure the Saints’ success in 2013 and beyond.

Now that the regular season is over, the Saints know who their 2013 opponents will be. By virtue of its 7-9 record and a number of tiebreakers, New Orleans officially finished as the third place team in the NFC South. This puts fellow third place NFC teams the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys on the Saints’ 2013 schedule.

Of course, New Orleans will also have six games against its NFC South rivals in 2013. The other half of the Saints’ 2013 schedule will come against the NFC West and AFC East.

A couple of years ago, four games versus the NFC West would be reason enough for NFL fans to celebrate on New Year’s Eve. But that is not the case today. In 2013, the Saints will have to deal with the San Francisco 49ers again, as well as the Seattle Seahawks juggernaut and a much-improved St. Louis Rams team.

In fact, the AFC East opponents may provide easier competition in 2013. The New England Patriots will always be strong under Bill Belichick and Tom Brady. However, the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets don’t exactly scare me. New Orleans should have a winning record versus the AFC East in 2013.
