There has been quite a bit of activity with cosmetic companies creating this new thing of High Definition makeup. There have been quite a few products released just this past year alone. Now that television broadcasting has become HD cosmetic formulations have had to improve and create makeup that would be flattering on actors and TV personnel now that the picture and clarity on screen has improved to the point of showing every imperfection.
The E.L.F High Definition Loose Powder is one of the HD powders I currently use. Before purchasing I did quite a bit of research trying to choose the right product. After reading a lot of reviews I noticed Elf’s powder was highly recommended. E.L.F’s HD powder has also been compared to high end brands like Makeup Forever HD line.
Packaging:
The loose powder comes in an all black compact container that is cube like in shape. It is a bit on the bulky side if you are planning on tossing it into your purse. But loose powder containers are usually much larger than pressed powder compacts anyways.
It comes with an application puff. The puff is actually of good quality and much thicker than the standard puff supplied in a compact. I would say it is 3 times the thickness.
The cover is a screw off top. I personally like this features because I’ve had my loose powder top open up in my purse and it made a huge mess. That will not be a problem with this compact.
My Thoughts:
The powder does look very white in the container almost like baby powder. This concerned me before I put it on. Upon application I realized it is very sheer and light. The powder is very fine milled, not like regular loose powder. It does not put any color on your face at all, just a soft veil affect.
The end result was that my makeup looked very soft and blended together. My skin did not look matte or shimmery. Usually powders tend to do one or the other. It definitely had a soft focus affect blurring out minor imperfections and fine lines. Without looking like I had powder on at all or appearing cakey.
The affect is not a major transformation of your appearance. What I noticed was that in general my skin and makeup looks better than usual.
I tend to get a little shine mid day on my t-zone and did not have that problem when I wore this powder.
