Disney MGM Studios: Attractions (Pt 1)

FASTPASS, Mgm, Tower of Terror

Walt Disney World, the home of fun and magic. Disney World is divided into four theme parks, two water parks and lots of restaurants and hotels. This article will be covering the basics of Disney-MGM Studios.

Disney-MGM boasts some of the best and most thrilling attractions on the WDW property. Some people claim that the best attraction is located down Sunset Blvd in Disney-MGM. Here is the ride listing for the attractions. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock’n’Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith, The Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Tour, The Great Movie Ride and Star Tours. This listing does not include the shows. That will be for a later article. This article will be covering The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock’n’Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith and The Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Tour.

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror: People claim this is the one ride every visitor has to ride. They also claim this ride makes the price of your ticket worthwhile. I have to agree to some extent, this ride does make the Disney-MGM ticket price worth it. A park hopper ticket, I’m not so sure about. But aside from what people say, I can say this attraction is amazing. I hate freefall attractions, they are boring and the drop scares me. However, Disney has taken something so simple as a cage dropping and made a masterpiece. The Disneyland version is very similar to this attraction in look.

But the feel of this ride is superior to the west coast version. I can’t say too much about the ride without giving away the fun. But I can say the visuals are very impressive, and the drop is not as bad as you would expect. This attraction will get busy very early during the day. I would suggest using Fastpass in conjunction with Rock’n’Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith being so close. I would get a Fastpass for Tower and then ride Rock’n’Roller Coaster. Then when the coaster is finished you should be able to use your Fastpass for Tower.

Rock’n’Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith: This is the best coaster Disney has to offer on their property. The initial launch is amazing and the experience is breathtaking, literally. The thought of having an indoor dark ride style roller coaster is a revolutionary idea. And yet Disney has done it, with speakers in each seat and a very neat but weak storyline, I enjoy this coaster. The loops and corkscrew may throw some people for a loop. But I think most people above the teen level will enjoy this roller coaster.

Once again this attraction is very popular. Not only is it the only major Disney roller coaster, but it is directly next to Tower of Terror. This makes those two attractions very busy since people will ride one and then get in line for the other. Use Fastpass, single rider line or get to the coaster early in the day.

The Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Tour: This is a tour of the studios backlot. The information is interesting and the ride is long. However, if the temperature is very hot and humid or the wait time is past 45 minutes, skip this ride until later. Think a watered down version of the Universal Studios backlot tour. I think any age can enjoy this ride, but older and more mature people will better understand the beauty of the movie information and props.
