Everyone has seen a Disney movies, most people have seen at least five, and some have even seen all of them. Disney movies have been popular since they were first made, and many people still love them, no matter how long ago they came out. The oldest Disney movies are still being watched by little children everywhere, even some adults, so which Disney movie came first?

Snowhite and The Seven Dwarfs
Snowhite is not only the oldest Disney movie, but also the first ever animated movie. It was released in 1937 and is still one of the most popular Disney movies ever. Snow White was one of the only two animated movies that were featured on the American Films Institute’s 100 Greatest Movies of All Time. It was also named the top animated movie ever made. The budget for this movie was only 1,488,000 dollars.

Pinocchio
Pinocchio was the second Disney movie ever made. It was first released in 1940. Pinocchio was produced by Walt Disney and it is based on a story called “Pinocchio: Tale of a Puppet,” by Carlo Collodi. Many people love this movie, but when it was first released, it was not very successful. Disney actually ended up losing money because the movie did not bring in as much money as it has cost to make it, the budget for the movie was 2,600,000 dollars. Despite it’s poor performance, Pinocchio won an Academy Award for Best Song, “When You Wish Upon A Star.” Pinocchio and Fantasia came out in the same year.

Dumbo
Dumbo became the fourth movie from the Walt Disney Animated Classics to be released in 1941. The movie was based on a book, also titled Dumbo, written a woman named Helen Aberson. The movie was directed by Ben Sharpsteen and the budget for it was almost a million dollars, $950,000.

Bambi
Bambi was released only a short time after Dumbo, in 1942. The movie is based on a book that was written in 1923 titled, “Bambi, A Life in the Woods,” which was written by Felix Salten. The budget for this Disney movie was over 2 million dollars. Disney was ranked as number three on the American Films Institute’s Top Ten Best Animated Movies, even though it did poorly in the theaters when it was first released.

Cinderella
This Disney classic was released in 1950, it was released after six other Disney movies that are not as well known. The movie is based on a novel that was written by Charles Perrault. This movie had a budge of 2,900,000 dollars and was followed by Cinderella II in 2002. Cinderella was nominated to receive Academy Awards for Best Song (Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo), Best Sound, and Original Music Score.

Alice in Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland became the thirteenth Disney movie released in 1951. It first premiered in Great Britain. This Disney movie is often referred to as one of the best animated movies ever made, but when it was first released, it did not get very good reviews. People, especially in England, gave it lackluster reviews. The budget for this Disney film was 3,000,000 dollars.

Peter Pan
Peter Pan is the fourteenth Disney movie which was released in 1953. The movie is based on a play also entitled, “Peter Pan,” by J.M. Barrie. Peter Pan was the last Disney movie in which all nine of the original animating directors worked together. This movie had the highest budget up to that point, at about 4,000,000 dollars.

Lady and the Tramp
The fifteenth Disney movie ever made was Lady and the Tramp which was released in 1955. Lady and the Tramp was the first animated movie to be filmed in the Cinemascope widescreen film process. The movie was a huge success in the theaters, but it did not receive good reviews from movie critics. Despite this, Lady and the Tramp is now regarded as a Disney classic. The budget for this movie was also around 4,000,000 dollars.

Lady and the Tramp was followed by One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961), The Sword in the Stone (1963), The Jungle Book (1967), The Aristocats (1970), and many many more. Even though these movies are some of the oldest, they are still watched by children all over the world today.
