Danelectro BLT Slap Echo – Product Review

The problem with being a musician and trying to get respectable gear in order is simple. For ninety percent of players, it is money. Guitar equipment is unreasonably expensive. When you factor in buying an amplifier, a guitar, cables, string, picks and further, there is no getting away cheaply. If you buy a head that is tube, you are probably spending $1k immediately. A decent matching or comparable cabinet enclosure should run about the same. Depending on which guitar you like, you could be looking at any range from $1k – $5k. If you are like me, you are willing to work years at dead end jobs in order to squirrel away the cash to be able to have the nicest equipment possible. The bummer for me was discovering my passion for effects. I have easily spent more money on effects pedals than any amount of guitars and amps. I love collecting gear. But it is never cheap. Fortunately, for pedals there are options for budgeted musicians.

Danelectro is engineering some fine devices for a fraction of the price that competitors are asking. When you look for these, do not expect fancy gadgets and tricks from the pedals. These are “bare bones” style effects that do the job that they are asked to do. You will not get anything more.

The Danelectro BLT Slap Echo is a fine pedal. It has a solid echo effect and is possibly one of the easiest pedals to use. Its simplistic design offers just two knobs. There is a switch for Mix control and Repeat adjusting. Mix is like a Level knob. This is going to let you decide how powerful your signal will be while the pedal is on in comparison to when it is off. Repeats will increase the number of repeats by switching forward. You can scale back by dialing counter clockwise.
