Most people see Washington, DC has an all work, no play town. People seem to be more concern about what’s your occupation than they do about life outside the job. Yet, most folks don’t know about the DC that takes place after dark. There are many places in DC to dance, unwind and party till you drop. I have some great dance clubs in Washington, DC that’s perfect for the after hours crowd.

UltraBar: Located a few blocks from the Verizon Center and National Portrait Gallery, Ultrabar was voted best bet for Dance Floor Action by readers of the Washington Post. Formerly known as the Bank and Home Nightclub, Ultrabar has 3 stylish floors of entertainment. It plays the variety of music from Top to Hip-Hop, Dance to House. Dress code is dress to impress! Therefore, baggy clothes, athletic wear, boots t-shirts and hats are not permitted. The venue is open Thursday through Saturday from 10 p.m. to close. They also have passes and/or guest list on the website for you and your friends to enter without admission prices.

Love the Club: Formerly known as Dream Nightclub, Love has made a name for itself as one of DC most upscale Urban Nightspots. This venue has hosted big time celebrity parties. It also had live concerts from the best in Urban Music. It has 4 levels of entertainment plus 4 desks and 3 VIP rooms. The music is mostly hip hop and r&b;, and they used to hold concerts featuring the best and brightest in urban music in the past. The club is open on Fridays at 10 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 p.m. The Dress code for Love is dress to impress! Since it’s an upscale venue, you leave the baggy clothes, athletic wear, boots t-shirts, hats and other stuff home.

Fur Nightclub: Just a few blocks from the New York Avenue Metro Station, Fur Nightclub is a stylish dance club with 5 luxurious lounges, a big dance floor and VIP rooms. The venue used to host live music and was the former home of the weekly Dance Party Buzz. Now, it’s the home of Glow DJ Nights every Saturday night. In addition, they bring in a big name DJ Tuesdays once a month. You can find out who’s coming by checking the events calendar. The venue is open at 9:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. You must be 18 years or older to enter, and it’s 21 and over to drink. The dress code is somewhere between dress to impress and business casual. They also have passes and/or guest lists on the website for you and your friends for either free or reduced admission.

Ibiza Nightclub: Named after the popular Spanish party island, Ibiza is a 30,000 square foot club has 4 different settings for club goers. Those who come to dance can move their thing on the dance floor in the main room. For those looking to chill, the lounge area has lovely leather couches, private tables for you guests and granite bars. For those who want a little more space, the rooftop terrace you club goes a wonderful view of the city. On Thursdays, Ibiza has their open bar Thursdays where $20 gets you open bar and admission to the club. Friday nights they host New Code Fridays, and they host live music show each month. The dress code for Ibiza is dress to impress! Therefore, baggy clothes, athletic wear, boots t-shirts and hats are not permitted. Ibiza also has a guest list for you and your friends to get either free or reduced admission on the nights the club is open.

Lux Lounge: Formerly known as Avenue Nightclub, Lux Lounge is a beautiful nightlife venue located near the Convention Center. Once inside, you’ll find lounge that has features elegant wood walls, candle-lit nooks, and plush seating fuse together to create the perfect place for a sophisticated night of lounging and dancing. The venue is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m.. The dress code is dress to impress, so leave the athletic gear, sports apparel, construction boots and baseball caps at home. As for the guest list, Lux Lounge has a 5 person limit on whom with you on the guest list.

The Park at the Fourteenth: It is one part restaurant; It is one part nightclub. One of DC’s favorite new after hour hot spot. The restaurant part of the Park features contemporary American cuisine for the after work crowd. It also has an extensive wine and alcohol menu perfect to fit for any meal. Other part of Park @ the 14th is they have great weekend dance parties that places when dinner is over. The venue is open Thursday through Sunday. Happy Hour is served on Thursdays and Fridays; Dinner is served Thursday through Saturday until 10 p.m. The lounge is open Thursday through Sunday.
