Crysis 2 Multiplayer Tips and Hints

With the release of a multiplayer demo for Crysis 2 on the Xbox Live Marketplace the Crysis series comes to gaming consoles for the first time. Console gamer expecting traditional controls and abilities for a first person shooter are in for some surprises. Crysis 2 expands the conventional console shooter with numerous armor abilities, upgrades and customization options. To help gamers new to the Crysis style of game play here are some hints and tips.

Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo Tip – Armor
The largest adjustment for gamers playing Crysis 2 is that you have not just weapons to control but a nanosuit as well. The suit is powered by an auto-recharging energy source. All gamers wear the suit giving them the ability to make power jumps, sprint, cloak and enhance their armor. There are also advanced vision modes for tagging enemies and hunting for cloaked enemies. As each of these abilities are used they drain the energy bar. You can use all of them at once for a short period of time, or you can use just one of them for much longer duration. Learning to balance the use of your energy with keeping some in reserve is key to playing Crysis 2 successfully.Try to keep at least 20% of the energy bar filled to use for extra armor protection when an enemy gets the drop on you.

Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo Tip – Weapons
There are four main weapon types in Crysis 2. These are the assault rifle, light machine gun, shotgun and sniper. These follow a fairly standard abilities format from most military shooters. However, all of the weapons are more accurate than their counterparts in other games. The light machine gun and shotgun are much more effective at medium range than in games like Call of Duty or Battlefield. In addition there are also pistols and grenades available for all players. To access grenades tap the Y button twice. Each class uses a different grenade type so keep in mind that your current grenade type may not be the normal frag grenade you are expecting.

Crysis 2 Multiplayer Demo Tip – Upgrades
Both the armor and weapons have numerous upgrades available. Each of the weapons has sights and scopes you can add on. Some also add additional firing modes like the hologram which shoots out an image of you running forward across the map. The armor can be enhanced with abilities that let you hide the noise from your footsteps, get an audible proximity alert or a notification that will alert you when an enemy cloaks near you. Since the demo has a level cap you cannot access all of the abilities listed. Be sure when you start buying the upgrades to read them all and pick the one you are going to want the most first.
