Creative Ways to Decorate with a Baby’s Footprints

Baby Shoes, Footprints, Homemade Greeting Cards

A baby’s feet grow very quickly, and if you do not take the steps to create memories now, they will grow out of their baby shoes and no longer have cute little pudgy feet. It is nice to create crafts with little footprints. They make lovely decorations for the home while providing tangible memories for mom, dad and others that dearly love the child. The forms do not have to be cast in plaster to last for years to come. Use these creative ways to decorate with a baby’s footprints, and decorate your home with unique works of stamped art that will help to create a lifetime of memories.

Make a Butterfly Flowerpot with Baby’s Footprints

Butterflies and flowerpots are a beautiful combination, and it does not take an experienced painter to create a beautiful butterfly on the side of a clay pot. All that you need is a baby with bare feet. Apply acrylic craft paint to the baby’s feet. Use the right foot to stamp the left wing and the left foot to stamp the right wing. The big toes will serve as the top outer points. Apply two or more colors in the same locations on the bottom of each foot for a symmetrical abstract design. Leave about an inch of space in between the wings, and paint the body black using a small craft brush after the wings have dried. If the baby is willing, practice on a sheet of cardstock before creating footprints on the flowerpot. Work quickly and the acrylic paint will wash right off with mild soap and water.

Stamp your baby’s footprints on a piece of scrap paper and with a little imagination, you will see an animal taking shape. If the heal is flesh colored and the rest is black and white, the footprint can be transformed into the face of a milk cow. Use the baby’s footprints to stamp little cows on homemade greeting cards, planters and cardstock that can be matted and framed. After creating the prints, add the eyes using acrylic craft paint and a brush with a fine tip. Make it appear whimsical with big brown eyes and oversized eyelashes. If desired, add small peel and stick jewels to highlight the eyes.

Stamp Beautiful Flowers with Baby’s Footprints

Beautiful floral designs can be made with baby’s footprints. Stamp or paint the flowers with the tip of your finger or thumb, and use green acrylic paint and the baby’s feet to stamp footprints to form the leaves. The prints can be made on heavy cardstock, clay planters or anything else that will hold the paint. You will be able to decorate with your baby’s precious footprints, long after they are grown.
