There are two really great community colleges located in Bronx, NY and they are Bronx Community College and Monroe College Bronx Campus. There are lots of reasons to attend a community college. The main reason is location, most of the time they are near where you live or work so you will not spend a lot of time commuting and using that as an excuse why you will not attend or continue to attend college. I have picked two colleges but you should always check their websites for current courses and fee schedules as they may change regularly.

Bronx Community College offers the following programs, Associate in Arts Degree (AA), Associate in Science Degree (AS), Associate in Applied Science Degree, CUNY Baccalaureate Program and certificate programs. According to their News and Events page http://www.bcc.cuny.edu/?page=tertiary&tPage;=News_Events&p2;=Announcements&p3;=Students&p4;=1679 the college will start offering Child Care for children as young as 2 years old.

Bronx Community College Tuition is charged each semester and must be paid in full at the time of registration please visit the website to obtain current registration, tuition and lab fees. Bronx Community College does not defer the payment of tuition. Acceptable forms of payment for tuition are cash, money order, certified check, Discover, American Express, Visa or MasterCard. All credit card payments must be made online via e-sims. All money orders and certified checks should be made payable to Bronx Community College and please print your name and social security number on your check or money order. Personal checks, company checks, paychecks, third party checks, or partial payments will not be accepted.

If you decide to graduate from Bronx Community College, you will need to have an average grade of at least 2.0 which is a C, complete a minimum of 60 degree credits and pass the CUNY proficiency Examination (CPE) and must be approved by the faculty for submission to the President and the Board of Trustees. The CUNY proficiency Examination (CPE) is a three hour test based on Analytic Reading and Writing, you will have up to 2 hours to complete this task and Analyzing and Integrating Information from Graphs and Text.

Monroe College Bronx Campus offers the following degree programs, Associate, Bachelor’s and Graduate Degrees in School of Allied Health Professions, School of Business, School of Criminal Justice, School of Hospitality Management & the Culinary Arts and School of Information Technology. The college also offers continuing education certificates.

Monroe College also have online learning so students can earn an Associate Degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, or Medical Administration in just sixteen months or a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Criminal Justice, or Health Services Administration within three years. Monroe also provides students with the opportunity to earn a degree through the combination of online and on-campus courses.

Monroe College accepts checks, drafts, American Express, Discover, Visa, MasterCard or money orders. You may pay for you tuition online at http://www.monroecollege.edu/onlinepayment , by mail or on campus at the Bursar’s Office. Payment plans may be set up with the Bursar’s Office prior to a semester.

Monroe College was founded in 1933, and consists of 3 campuses, the Bronx Campus, New Rochelle Campus and St. Lucia Campus which is actually located on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. The Bronx campus is located at 2501 Jerome Avenue and has been in the Fordham Rd area of the Bronx since 1967.
