Gifts for Grandparents, Hand Prints

A lot of the supplies you can purchase at discount stores such as Dollar Tree, 99 Cent Store, Family Dollar, and Big Lots or any other similar store in your area. Walmart and K-Mart are good stores to check for supplies as well. These are the same items that are sold at big retailers, but the cost is much lower. Items such as paint, magnets, craft foam, stamps, gems, tape, glue, beads and other craft supplies can be found at all of these discount retailers and it will save you loads of money. There are also gift bags, ribbons, cards, bows, and tissue paper that can be purchased at these stores to wrap your gift in. Also, all of these are simple to make and do not take a lot of time to create. They can easily be done in an afternoon.

Framed Grandkid’s Hand Prints:

Have the Grandkids finger paint and make hand prints on plain paper. Once the hand prints are dry, frame in a simple frame. If they know how to write already, then maybe have them add a message or their name to the hand prints as well.

Painted Tiles:

Purchase plain white tiles and paint pictures or words onto them. Use a clear coat to seal the tiles and they can be used for coasters and decorations. Buying the tiles that are flat white and not the shiny, pre-sealed tiles works best. Also, tiles come in numerous sizes, so you can pick how big or small you want them to be, depending on what they will be used for.

Picture Magnets:

I’ve made these before using clothes pins, popsicle sticks, magnets, and craft foam. I made mine in a flower shape out of the craft foam and then gluing the flower to a popsicle stick to the clothe pin. Then place a magnet on the back of the clothes pin and I placed a picture of my kids right in the center of the flower. However, you can always write words here instead or place any picture you like in the center. These can be placed on refrigerators and the clothes pin can hold notes, recipes, and other pictures as well.

Decorative Picture Frames:

Purchase inexpensive wood, plastic, or metal picture frames in any size you like. You can place the Grandkid’s pictures in them when you are done or any other picture you choose. Using a hot glue gun, glue charms, beads, or any other decorations onto the frame. You can also paint the frames or add metallic papers to decorate the frames also.

Stamped Hand Towels, Dish Towels, Or Washcloths:

Pick an assortment of hand towels, dish towels and washcloths in any colors, lighter colors do work better. Also, pick stamps in any design or choose words to use. Fabric paint works best when stamping on materials, because the paint can be washed and will not come off. Pour paint into plastic, disposable bowls or plates and began stamping the towels and washcloths. Cover them and then let them dry. This type of paint dries quickly and they are ready to give.
