Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with Homemade Alcoholic Drinks

Irish Coffee, Kahlua

March 17th is St. Patrick’s Day, so get ready to drink up! St. Patrick’s Day is the holiday of the Irishmen, and it wouldn’t be kosher to celebrate it without having a rich, tasty alcoholic drink. Now these aren’t your traditional beverages — these pack a lot of wallop and flavor, perfect for ending a rich Irish meal. Want to wind down? Here are some alcoholic drinks you can prepare quickly after a big, hearty St. Patrick’s Day meal.

Irish Cream Liqueur
This is a wonderful alcoholic beverage that really packs a wallop. Pair it with sweets for the ultimate experience. Here is a recipe provided by cooksrecipes.com:

The ingredients:

– 3 large eggs
– 1 can of sweetened condensed milk
– 2 tbsp of chocolate syrup
– 10 oz of blended whiskey
– 1 pt of Half-and-Half
– 1 1/2 tsp of instant coffee granules
– 1/4 tsp of almond extract

Blend the eggs, condensed milk, and chocolate syrup in a blender. Then add the whiskey, Half-and-Half, instant coffee granules, and almond extract. Blend all of these ingredients on medium speed for about 7 minutes. Once that’s done, pour the smooth mixture over ice in a glass cup. Drink up!

Irish Whip
This alcoholic drink doesn’t have any Irish roots — the base is comprised of Vodka and Cuban rum — but the crème de menthe makes this drink green enough for a spirited St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The combination of licorice liqueur and orange juice make this a very intriguing alcoholic drink. Here is a recipe by Colleen Graham of About.com:

The ingredients:

– 1 oz of vodka
– 1 oz of Pernod
– 1 oz of Cuban rum
– 1 oz of crème de menthe
– 1 part 7-Up
– 1 part orange juice
