Captain Morgan’s Black Spiced Rum – A Review

Captain Morgan, Cassia, Rum

One of my favorite mixed drinks is a rum and Coke. When I turned 21, the first drink I ordered at a bar was a Captain and Coke. So when I saw Captain Morgan came out with their latest spirit, Black Spiced Rum, I wanted to check it out. I got a bottle and I tried the rum on the rocks as well as some great recipes. On the rocks was great by itself. I found that the Black Spiced Rum had a strong flavor and body. It has more alcohol by volume than the regular Captain Morgan Spiced Rum. It seems that Captain Morgan was looking to have their new spirit appeal to those who enjoy whiskey. It is made from Caribbean Blackstrap rum with ingredients including rich clove spice and premium cassia bark. The liquid is finished with double charred blackened oak for the unique taste.

As I stated earlier, the Black Spiced Rum is great by itself, but I did try some recipes I enjoyed and I think you will too. Just make sure you are at least 21 to try this spirit. The strength of the Black Spied Rum makes this spirit a perfect base for a cocktail. If the recipes below don’t tickle your fancy, then check out the complete recipe list at the Captain Morgan website.
