CAPSA ( Community Abuse Prevention Services Agency) in Logan, Utah

Sexual Crimes

If you have been in Logan Utah for some time you likely have hear of CAPSA, but might not know what this organization is for. CAPSA stands for Community Abuse Prevention Services Agency. Their main branch was founded here in the Cache Valley of Logan Utah, and they are a nonprofit organization committed to helping the victims of domestic abuse or sexual assault. It was first founded in the 1970s when a group of concerned citizens of Cache Valley decided that the area needed an immediate help line for those that have experienced abuse or are stuck in the cycle. Even if you have no need for these services it is best to understand what is offered so that you can help those around you who may be in dire need.

What do they offer?

Among the many services provided by CAPSA they offer emergency services for immediate help 24/7. There is a crisis line and a 24-hour mobile response team. This is very reassuring to the people of Logan, as it allows those that are in danger to be assisted in a timely manner. Although it doesn’t seem like such a quaint area of Utah should have problems with these types of crimes, the CAPSA center sees a good deal of individuals on a regular basis. They also offer forensic exams on-site for victims of sexual assault and provide a sanctuary for children and adults alike.

Donations

If you would like to get involved with this worthy organization, there are a number of items that they will accept as donations. Some of these include baby food, baby formula, hygiene products, and twin sized sheets and blankets just to name a few. CAPSA will also accept money donations.

One of CAPSA’s traditions is to allow those individuals that require their services a chance to pick out a handmade quilt. The love expressed in a handmade quilt offers them a welcome into the arms of CAPSA and their crew of volunteers. Because they prefer these quilts to be handmade, they always need the community’s help to provide these. You don’t need to handsew the quilt or do any elaborate designs, but they should be well made with a serger or a simple tie quilt. They generally receive a number of baby quilts, because of the ease of their smaller size, but twin-sized bed dimensions are currently needed.

Other items that are always needed are old cell phones. You can either donate a working cell phone for use with 9-1-1 calls or for the mobile volunteers to utilize on call, or you can donate one that is not operable so it can be recycled and CAPSA receives the monetary gain to use for other needed items. Any way you choose to help is appreciated to keep the organization running smoothly.
