Best Water Parks Near Rhode Island

Water Parks

Even though Rhode Island is the Ocean State, not everyone wants to bother with the sand and the little shade. Also, some just crave water and excitement and the water park delivers. Unfortunately being the smallest state in the union, there isn’t that many water parks. If fact there is just one. So in order to give a more in depth report on water parks, I have had to include all of New England. Many of the parks are within a days drive. It is a great day for all!

IN RHODE ISLAND

Water Wizz, Westerly, R.I.

There is only one water park in Rhode Island and it is not really even a water park. Water Wizz is near the beach in southern Rhode Island and it has incrediable slides. This park was perfect for us when my sons were age 9 through now. The park is just slides and not really a great place for little ones or non swimmers. It was a great day to cool off without being at the beach. So, you’re near the beach but not on the beach. It was great! The cost was $25.00 dollars for the day, but I know there is a 40 minute pass for $10.00. There is a morning special for $10 dollars too. It is worth the trip.

IN MASSACHUSETTS

Water Wizz, Wareham, Mass

The Water Wizz in Massachusetts is an actual water park and is more kid friendly for all ages. It is a great park if you have swimmers and non-swimmers. I loved the pirate theme and it was a great day on the edge of the Cape. We went when we rented a house in the area and it provided a break from the beach. The park has slides, small children area that is really great! We were happy under an umbrella, but you can rent a cabana. We packed a lunch, but the snack bar was pretty reasonable. The cost is $30 a day, but there is an after 4pm special. My boys loved this place and my two oldest have gone with friends since our trip a few years ago. It is a great day to spend a summer day.

Hurricane Harbor, Six Flags, Agawam

This water park is one of the most amazing water parks my family and I have been too. It offers a ton of things and is appropriate and fun if your 2 or 20. However, this is a park and a bit pricey. I found myself torn between the park and the water park. I felt like I needed to get both in to get my monies worth. The result: exhaustion and disappointment. So, if you plan on going here. Plan on going to just the park and don’t try to fit them both in. The park admission is about 45 dollars with kids under 48″ less. There is a $15 parking fee and you can’t bring food into the park. There is usually tickets for six flaggs everywhere. I saw them at a Duncon Donuts or even a coke can last year…look forhtem. There is a lot of offer and one of the highlights for my little ones was the Kiddie Octopus and for my older son was the Typhoon.

IN CONNECTICUT

Lake Compounce, Bristol, Conn.

This by far is my favorite park for little ones. The park is not too big and you CAN enjoy a day at an amusement park and a water park in one. My older kids loved the high-speed slide in the dark and the younger ones loved the exploration, jungle gym area. The park is pricey and admission for both the park and ride was $34.99, $25.99 for anyone under 52 inches tall. There is a $7 parking fee as well.

Quassy Beach and Saturation Station

This park had the best of both a water park and a beach. The water park was full of many interactive activities designed to be fun and get you wet. This park had some exciting slides, but it really is geared for children. The beach was nice and clean and there was plenty of life guards on. There was a small park that had some great rides. We took a lot of great pictures and they had a lot of fun. All-day park combo tickets are available for $22, or just $11 for Quassy Beach and Saturation Station admission only. All day parking is $5.

IN NEW HAMPSHIRE

Castaway Island, Canobie Lake Park, Salem, N.H.

I love Canobie Lake and remember going when I was a kid. I have taken my kids here once and it is the best value out of all the parks. “Castaway Island ” is full of plenty of excitement. It had a lot of great water activities to do and when they were young, I had to drag them out of there. The funnest thing was the drying machine that blasted air on them to dry them off. They played in that longer than was necessary. The park cost $30, but look around there are tons of coupon offers everywhere in the area and online.

Water Country, Portsmouth, N.H.

This is an excitement park for water parks. There is a lot to choose from and there is something there for everyone. If you are a thrill seeker, then go on the black hole 8. It was scary and exciting at the same time. The cost was pricey with people over 48″ costing about $40 and under 48″ costing $25. For those living nearby, a season pass runs only $59.99, less than the cost of two tickets.

Liquid Planet Waterpark, Candia, N.H.

I have listed this park and have not been to it. The website looks really neat and seems like a park that would be great for little ones. It is near Manchester, NH and the prices seem good with tickets costing $24 for adults and $19 for children under 48. There is a sandy beach with the slides and pools.

Whale’s Tale Waterpark, Lincoln, N.H.

This was an incredible park and the name fits. It was a great diversion from our mountain camping trip. It had great water slides and a wave pool. It had a water jungle gym adventure area as well as hot tube (didn’t go in because of the little ones). It was a perfect way to cool off after being in a hot tent for a few days camping. We surprised the kids with it and they still talk about it years later. The cost was about $35 dollars each, but they do have a reduced rate after 3pm.

IN VERMONT

Smuggler’s Notch, Jeffersonville Vt.

I have not been to this park but the web site was pretty neat. It says it has heated, outdoor pools and four water slides. It talks of a hidden recreation area. It doesn’t seem like a day thing. This seems to be part of a package deal with the resort. So, if you are looking for an entire vacation in Vermont with hiking and the great outdoors, this may seem the way to go.

IN MAINE

Funtown Splashdown USA, Saco, Maine

This is a combination water park and amusement park in Maine. It has an incrediable water slide called the Tornado that quite frankly scared me to death and I’m a thrill seeker. It had a lot of offer and they had rates just for the water park or for both water park and amusement park. It was a great way to spend the day in our trip at Maine. The combo pass was $36 dollars and $27 for the little ones from 38 to 48 inches tall. It wasn’t the most exciting one of the bunch but it was a great day.

I hope this gives some information about the many water parks that are located in the New England area. We had fun in all the ones we went too. I have put the web sites in all the parks. Look at them and see which ones are best for your family and what they want in a water park.

Have fun and stay cool!
