Best Internet Job Search Sites

Careerbuilder, Job Listings, Job Search

What are the best internet job search sites? There are so many comprehensive internet job search sites that it’s tough to determine which is the best. Here are my favorite internet job search sites and why.

Indeed.com(www.indeed.com)
A friend of mine told me about this comprehensive internet job search site a year or two ago. I was in the market and I found Indeed.com to be one of the better job search sites out there. Indeed.com is not a place where you can actually apply for a job. Indeed.com instead provides brief descriptions of jobs from other job site locations. In other words, you might see a collection of jobs on Indeed from Monster, CareerBuilder to HotJobs. Indeed.com is the best internet job search site I have found so far. You don’t have to have a password to log in or apply–it’s just a bunch of basic job listings that hyperlink to other sites. It might be the portal you need to find a variety of jobs quickly in the area you are searching.

CareerBuilder(www.careerbuilder.com)
I enjoy CareerBuilder for many reasons. Why is it one of the best internet job search sites? CareerBuilder allows you to fill out a profile with a resume. Sure, you’ll need a password to log on but you can quick apply to many many jobs in the same area. I think this feature from CareerBuilder helps it stand out from many other internet job sites. Once you are finishes applying for one job, look for the next step which allows you to Quick Apply. For that reason only, I would put CareerBuilder near the top of my list.

HotJobs(www.hotjobs.com)
This Yahoo driven job search site is quick and simple. The only hitch is that there are many non-traditional jobs you may have to filter through. If you are a meat and potatoes kind of guy, you’ll want to stay clear of HotJobs if you are searching for something ultra professional. Let’s just say the sponsors sometimes make it difficult to get to what you really want-and that’s probably a real job.

Monster(www.monster.com)
Monster typically has a strong list of jobs. It’s recognized as one of the best internet job search sites out there. With that said, I don’t always like Monster. I don’t feel it’s as easy to search or negotiate your way around. I want to be able to find a job with ease and I don’t feel like Monster always helps me accomplish that task. It’s still a great alternative job search site.

LinkedIn (www.Linkedin.com)
While LinkedIn isn’t known for it’s job listings, it’s steadily adding more and more positions as people learn to network through this valuable web portal. I think future jobs on LinkedIn could be more in abundance as more lean toward networking to land jobs instead of applying blindly. It’s fascinating that you might actually know someone who knows someone who could help you land a job.

I would recommend using most or all of these internet job sites to provide a more thorough search in the market you are looking. Which one one is the best internet job search site for you? I would venture to guess that none of the above sites will provide a total package of what most prospective job hunters are looking for. A combination of the sites could help provide a strong glimpse of what a particular market has to offer.
