Best Holiday Gifts for the Deer Hunter Over $100

Bass Pro, Deer Hunter

With quite a few avid hunters in my family I am always on the look out for some super nice hunting related gifts. Sometimes I don’t even have to find these ideas for gifts myself because one of my brothers might speak up and just say what they want! There is nothing wrong with that because normally I would never have any idea what in the world an avid deer hunter might even want! Each of these deer hunting related gifts come in at over $100 and are perfect for a really nice special gift.

OK, apparently deer hunters are exposed to some pretty rough weather sometimes. I never really thought about it, since I am at home asleep in my warm bed at 5am on Saturdays! Anyway, the RedHead® XPR Gore-Tex® PacLite® Rain Jackets for Men was a special request this year by one of my older brothers for their birthday. Now this is apparently no ordinary hunting jacket. It claims to be the lightest, most packable rainwear on the market. It is made out of a lightweight nylon, which makes the jacket extremely breathable, compressible, and waterproof. It contains a black layer that is made of an “oil fighting” polymer and an added level of carbon. This oil fighting layer allows perspiration vapors to pass through it. On the otheer hand though it keeps body oils, insect repellents, and many other environmental contaminants from altering the membrane’s waterproof properties. I think the main reason my brother wanted this jacket is because it folds up to an extremely compact size. The ad says it would fit into a water bottle and it did, with a little effort. The RedHead® XPR Gore-Tex® PacLite® Rain Jackets for Men usually costs about $130. I found it at Bass pro Shop, the Mecca of all hunting stores, for $110. I have also seen it on-line at www.bassproshop.com.

Now, apparently boots are also important to deer hunting boys. They need to stay dry, which I can actually understand. The good thing about buying a hunter a nice pair of boots is that they will really last forever. Seriously. Decades. The RedHead® Bone-Dry® Treestand II 10” Boots for Men have 800 grams of Thinsulate™ Ultra Insulation. In English they are warm even when you have been sitting for three hours watching no deer walk by. They are also water proof, better yet guaranteed to be water proof with the Gore-Tex® bootie for guaranteed waterproof protection. Other great features include shock absorbent midsole, perfect for long walks through the woods, and lightweight rubber sole. The footbed is made of polyurethane and is also removable. The RedHead® Bone-Dry® Treestand II 10” Boots for Men weigh slightly less than 5 pounds and have a tempered steel shank. All of these equality details do com with a slightly large price tag of $130. Now, I found them online at Bass Pro Shop for $100, but had to pay shipping and handling. From the look on my brother’s face when he opened though it was well worth it. A pair of boots may seem like an unusual gift but these are really nice boots!

OK, so, what deer hunter’s life would be complete with out a ladder to get up into his deer stand with. The API Outdoors Grandstand® Quik Stik Ladder is the perfect answer for getting up twenty feet into the air so you have a better vantage point on your deer. The API Outdoors Grandstand® Quik Stik Ladder is super lightweight and is made out of aluminum. My favorite feature of this product is the non skip steps. This is an important feature do to the mud and water that can make boots slippery. The step rungs are 8″ wide and very easy to climb. It comes in 5 4′ foots sections. They snap together to get you 20 feet up in a tree. They attach to the tree with a cam buckle and strap system. There is one on every section for safely. The entire ladder weighs about 25 pounds, which is fairly light weight. It can hold up to 350 pounds of deer hunter, if you weight more than that you probably should not be 20 feet up in a tree! The API Outdoors Grandstand® Quik Stik Ladder costs about $130 and can be found at Bass Pro Shop and Dicks Sporting Goods.
