Best Family Vacation Spots in Hawaii

Haleakala, Lahaina, Sandy Beaches

Hawaii is a perfect location for families. There are six main islands in Hawaii that allow visitors and four are the main ones recommended. The islands are: Oahu where Honolulu and Waikiki are located, Maui, the big island and Kauai.

Each Island has different things to do and therefore it is up to the families to decide which island location is the best for them. It is advisable to take about a week at each island to be able to maximize your vacation time at beaches and not at airport terminals.

OAHU

Oahu is where you will find the famous Waikiki beach and Honolulu. Not only is Oahu beautiful, it has a lot of activities to do. There are numerous ocean activities such as: swimming, sailing, snorkeling, surfing and sunbathing. For families that want to take their kids to the zoo, Honolulu zoo is available. For the more adventurous families, there is the Atlantis submarine rides. If families want to go back in history they can visit pearl harbor. Families that are interested in the culture of the island can visit the Polynesian Cultural center. For more information visit the visitors bureau.

Maui

Most families prefer Maui to any other island in Hawaii. Maui offers several hotels, resorts and condos for a bargain. Maui has the Maui Ocean Center which houses the largest aquarium in Hawaii. In the right season from December 15 through April 15 families can whale watch. Families can visit the Haleakala National park which has a dormant volcano. The historic whaling village of Lahaina is located in Maui or families can simply just catch the sugar cane train. For more information, visit the visitors bureau.

The Big Island

If your family prefers volcanoes, tropical forests, waterfalls and black sand beaches then the big island is for you.
This island is quite big so families have to plan for a lot of driving. The island has several water sports activities, snorkeling and swimming, though since it is a relatively new island, there aren’t as many white sandy beaches.
Keep in mind the big size of this island in trip planning, which will mean lots of driving. Sight seeing is a must do and since this island is relatively young, you won’t find as many white sand beaches as you do on other Hawaiian islands. For more information, visit the visitors bureau.

Kauai

Kaui is a spectacular island and many Hollywood films such as Jurassic park have been shot at this island.
If your family enjoys outdoor activities then Kauai should be your vacation spot. There are many water sports available, your family can choose to trek the miles of trails through the rainforests and along the ocean cliffs.
There are also many sandy beaches and quiet locations in the forest, therefore a good spot if you love your peace and quiet. For more information, visit the visitors bureau.
