Best Dublin Ulferts Center Restaurants

Asian Cuisine, East Bay, Koi, Orange Chicken, Thai Basil

The Dublin Ulferts Center in Dublin, CA opened over two years ago. It’s a gem in the East Bay for those who have not yet visited it. In it, are a wide range of Asian cuisine restaurants and shops. The following are my favorite restaurants in the Dublin Ulferts Center in Dublin, CA.

Just Koi

Homepage, Yelp Page

Just Koi is my favorite restaurant in the Dublin Ulferts Center. This isn’t because it’s the best restaurant there. It’s because it’s the most different. Just Koi isn’t your standard Chinese restaurant. You won’t find orange chicken or beef chow mein here, you’ll see items like octopus and chicken feet on the menu that show you that it’s fairly authentic. They serve a wide variety of congee (rice porridge) and noodle soups that are quite tasty. My favorite is the beef flank ho-fun (flat noodle) soup. If you haven’t tried it before, I recommend trying the herbal turtle jelly (not made from turtles, it’s just the name), it’s not your normal dessert. You may find more authentic restaurants in Milpitas, Cupertino, and San Francisco, but it’s great to have a fairly authentic Chinese restaurant in the East Bay to grab take out from.

Koi Garden

Homepage, Yelp Page

Koi Garden is the sister restaurant to the relatively famed Koi Palace in Daly City. It’s probably the nicest and fanciest Chinese restaurant in the East Bay. I certainly can’t recall a nicer one or fancier one. My friends and I got a huge kick from the fact that they steam their rice in individual bowls. While fancy, it won’t run your bill too high. My friends and I have not run the bill past $30 a person for a great meal, although you can easily run it up higher if you get the fancier dishes. They have fresh live fish, lobster, and shrimp. They have a number of classic Chinese dishes such as Peking duck and drunken chicken too. Personally, I recommend the Shanghai Steamed Dumplings as an appetizer. I hate to say it, but we actually ordered orange chicken here one time for a friend that wasn’t into the Chinese cuisine. It was the best orange chicken I’ve ever tasted.

Singapore Old Town Cafe

Yelp Page

Similar to Just Koi, I like Singapore Old Town Cafe because it’s just a tad different than other places. Singaporean cuisine is a bit of a mix of various other Asian cuisines, including Indian, Thai, and Chinese. You’ll find a lot of items on the menu that are just a tad different than what you’re used to from other restaurants. Old Town Cafe is worth checking out just to try something a little new.

Other

There are a number of other nice restaurants in the center that I won’t go into detail on. They are all nice restaurants, although they don’t necessarily stand out. If you have a craving for some Asian cuisine, but can’t figure out what to eat, check out the Dublin Ulferts center. They have restaurants running the gamut of cuisines, including ramen (Osaka Ramen), Thai (Thai Basil Express), Hong Kong (Zoie Cafe), Afghan (Pamir Restaurant), Japanese (House of Sake), Korean (AA Tofu House) and they also have a nice Chinese bakery (Kee-Wah Bakery) if you’re looking to pick up a cake.
