Best Broadway Musical Songs

Aida

I love Broadway. A great musical is one that carries a story through song and you sometimes forget that they are singing. Broadway songs have more sentimental value to me than today’s music. These are my favorite songs.

‘Elaborate Lives’ from Aida. This song is what makes Broadway so special. It is one of the best songs ever written, Broadway or not.

‘My Strongest Suit’ from Aida. As you watch the scene play out it’s pretty cool. I’ve heard a few different women sing this. Brilliant song.

‘Dance of The Robe’ from Aida. A very powerful song. The original cast did a great job with this.

‘I Hope I Get It’ from A Chorus Line. It sets up the whole story. We are put in the situation to root for them. We’ve all had to deal with a little competition in life.

‘One’ from A Chorus Line. Everyone that knows anything about Broadway knows how incredible this song is.

‘What I Did For Love’ from A Chorus Line. Once again, this song is well known with the right crowd.

‘Cell Block Tango’ from Chicago. I really love the lyrics. I think it’s brilliant.

‘All That Jazz’ from Chicago. Another great song. It sets up the story really well.

‘I’m Here’ from The Color purple. Another song that embodies what musicals are about.

‘Good Morning Baltimore’ from Hairspray. This song does an awesome job setting up the story through a teenager’s eyes.

‘You Can’t Stop The Beat’ from Hairspray. This song is in a class of its own. I love everything about this song. Genius.

‘One Day More!’ from Les Miserables. I love the songs that feature the entire cast. Everyone has something to bring to this song. And when it’s live its really haunting.

‘The Music of The Night’ from The Phantom Of The Opera. I really like the lyrics.

‘One Song Glory’ from Rent. I lovely song that explains the characters dilemma with himself.

‘Another Day’ from Rent. I love this song because it explains both sides of the story. The bittersweet notion that life does in fact have to go on. And you should choose to make the best of it.

‘Will I?’ from Rent. This song is so haunting live. The lyrics will stay with me forever.

‘Christmas Bells’ from Rent. Again, live, this is the best song to see visually. The lyrics are witty and the way lyrics are written is brilliant.

‘La Vie Boheme’ from Rent. This is my favorite song because I adore list songs. Everything may seem like a list but the point is the connection with Bohemia.

‘Season of Love’ from Rent. I think it’s one of the best songs ever written.

‘All That’s Known’ from Spring Awakening. This song pretty much sums up my whole life.

‘The B*ch of Living’ from Spring Awakening. The lyrics are hilarious. The music is really awesome.

‘I Don’t Do Sadness/Blue Wind’ from Spring Awakening. The contrast of the two actors compliment each other very well.

‘Left Behind’ from Spring Awakening. Beautifully written.

‘My Friends’ from Sweeney Todd. This song is deeply tragic and moving.

‘A Little Priest’ from Sweeney Todd. This song is hilarious. Clever lyrics.
