Best 5 Places to Park Your RV Near Savannah, Georgia

Are you headed to, or plan to be passing through, Savannah, Georgia, this summer? If so, you may want to check out my picks for some of the best campgrounds in the area. Here they are:

Skidaway Island State Park

If you have children, Skidway Island State Park is your best bet. It is located on the Diamond Causeway in Savannah and many of the RV sites are 50 feet in length. Many of the sites have water and electric hook-ups as well as a grill, a fire ring and a picnic table. There are plenty of family friendly activities and programs onsite. Nightly rates for RV sites tend to start at $28 per site and a two-night minimum length of stay is typically in effect on the weekends.

Red Gate Campground and RV Resort

The Red Gate Campground and RV Resort is a lovely facility located on Red Gate Farms Trail in Savannah. It is geared towards quiet and leisurely pursuits. As such, I would recommend it to older adults or families with older children. There is a fishing pond on site, so you may want to bring your fishing gear with you. The full hook-up sites are quite large. Many come equipped with a fire pit and a picnic table. Nightly rates generally start at $40 per site.

Biltmore RV Park

The Biltmore RV Park is located on Ogeechee Road and is pet friendly. One of the nice things about the park is that there is easy access to trolley tours, buses and car rental services. Some of the sites are shaded, grassy and level. Rates vary and advance reservations are recommended.

Hardeeville RV Park

If you don’t mind staying roughly 22 miles from Savannah, you may want to book a site at the Hardeeville RV Park. It is located in Hardeeville, South Carolina, on South Okatie Highway. What makes it a stand out is that some of the sites are shaded and can fit RVs up to 90 feet in length. I should also mention that it is geared towards adults and loud activities are discouraged. The bad news is that you have to be prepared to pay for your campsite with cash, traveler’s checks or checks. Nightly rates tend to start at $40 per site.

River’s End Campground and RV Park

Those that want to stay within Georgia, but outside of Savannah, may want to consider staying on Tybee Island. It is located approximately 17 miles from Savannah. There is a campground there called River’s End. It features RV sites as well as tent sites and cabins. Many of the sites are 25 feet in length, shaded and equipped with water and electric. Some of the RV sites have grassy surfaces and others features gravel surfaces. Families are welcome and there are activities on the island itself to keep the kids busy. Nightly rates tend to start at $40 per site.
