Benzodent Denture Pain Relieving Cream

Dentures, Orajel

As I was born just after the war in England, my mother survived on powdered milk and eggs. As a child I was constantly at the dentist and this continued through adulthood. At the age of just 22 I had all my teeth pulled. With this said, I have had at least 5 or 6 sets of dentures over the years, as my gums have shrunk.

My last set had to have been at least 10 or even 12 years old. I ate fine and they were comfortable. However, I had ground them down and they were a little discolored. So Wednesday of last week I spent the whole day at the dentist having new dentures made. The lady that fitted them for me, went to explain about them rubbing and cutting into my gums, and I told her that I am a veteran at this, and I had already purchased the generic of Orajel. She came back with samples of Benzodent Denture Pain Relieving Cream and told me that it would be more effective than Orajel. She said that it is the strongest pain reliever without a prescription. I thanked her for it and brought it home with me.

The first night I just had soup and runny oatmeal. The bottom right and left edges of the dentures that lay on the gums were already rubbing them. I cut the end of the sample of Benzodent off and squeezed out the smallest amount of pink thick paste. I laid the edge of the packet on the parts of the dentures that were hurting and spread it with that edge. I then put my bottom dentures in. This stuff is good as it worked immediately. As these dentures are bigger than my last ones I didn’t open my mouth wide enough and I got some of the Benzodent on the side of my mouth and tongue. They both went numb. The sore spots didn’t give me pain after this.

When I went to bed I kept the uppers in as they were not hurting. I took the bottom ones out and put them in water. During the night my aching mouth kept me awake so I took a Tylenol p.m. to help me sleep.

The following day I put my bottom dentures back in and had hot cereal for breakfast. Again the same places hurt so I applied the Benzodent again. Later that day we went out so I couldn’t take an open sample with me. Instead I took the tube of the generic Orajel. I had a slice of soft bread to eat and I removed the crust. My gums were hurting so I used the Orajel. It only numbed for a few minutes.

I am now on day 5 and I am eating chopped up dinners but cannot eat any hard food. I have only used about a quarter of the first sample packet of Benzodent. I have been using it after every meal at home. It really does take the pain away from the gums but not the throbbing. I have been taking the odd Tylenol during the day to stop that.

It normally takes me up to a month for new dentures to settle in. I know I still have a long way to go but with Benzodent I know that it will be easier than I had thought.

Taken from the literature that came with it:

“Benzodent is dentist recommended.
Benzodent helps stop the pain of denture sore spots.
Benzodent is maximum strength, the strongest benzocaine formula you can get without a prescription.
You get hours of relief irritation and discomfort.”

If you plan on getting new dentures, then go the the drug store and pick up a tube of Benzodent before you get home with them. You won’t regret it.
