Beaded Jewelry Ideas

Bead Making, Beaded Jewelry

Do you love beaded jewelry but can’t afford the cost? Then make your own beaded jewelry! Check out my sample ideas! I have sold beaded jewelry on Ebay and want to share my ideas with you! Anyone can make these just refer to a simple bead bracelet book and buy quality parts. These beaded jewelry samples are all made of Swarovski Crystals, Bali beads, and sterling silver. Use quality parts and you can sell your beaded jewelry from $15-$65 on ebay or at your local craft mart! The possibilities are endless, bead away!

I shop online and prefer stores such as charmfactory.com and brightlingsbeads.com, both of these stores have quality products at a reasonable price. If you are just starting off making your own beaded jewelry, you can spend about $25 and get a nice lot of items to get started less the tools. To start creatin beaded jewelry, you will need a pair of beading pliers and I prefer the crimping tool that you can use to fold your wire and then crimp your beads. It is not necessary to have more than one tool when you are just starting off.

Starting Off Supply List

Crimping tool

Bead String (Beadalon 7, 20 pound is my preference)

Swarovski Crystals (8mm are a great size to start off with)

Sterling silver components:

Clasps ( lobster claws are great)

Split rings

Crimp beads

Round beads

Spacers (bali has nice dcorative ones)

Charms (if desired)

I always buy about 12″ of a nice chain to use as an extender

To get started follow these simple directions once you get your beads:

1. Cut wire to desired length plus 1/2″

2. Place lobster claw through string and then loop string

3. Push crimp bead up other end leaving about 1/8″ loop where claps sits

4. Crimp bead to finish first end

5. Use my pictures, a catalog or your own design to create your piece. You may find yourself re-stringing it several times until you get the perfect design.

6. Finish the other end with a split ring, extender and closing with a crimp bead.

I recommend searching beading basics or getting a bead basics book to learn the steps if you are new to making beaded jewelry. The design opportunities are endless and you can create gifts or even start your own beaded jewelry business. I bought wholesale for about a year and brought in about $300 per month but had to quit when my kids were born. I plan to start again someday and created more pieces like the ones pictured here or better!

The key to beaded jewelry making is using quality products and do not undersell your items. If you are using quality pieces, people will have no problem paying more if you advertise the quality products that you are using in your beaded jewelry. Mother’s bracelets for example sell at retailers for $50-$100 and if made with quality products, you can sell the same quality beaded jewelry for the same price. Search the internet for beaded jewelry ideas and experiment with new products and ideas when creating your jewelry. Get creative and have fun!
