Baker’s Delight: My Baker’s Edge Brownie Pan

Bar Cookies

I am now the proud owner of a Bakers Edge Brownie Pan. A special thank you goes to David Hall, V. P. of Sales and Marketing, at BakersEdge.com. David was kind enough to send out a test pan, for me to use and then review on my cooking blog.

I guess I’ve always been an ‘edge girl’… not to be confused with an OVER the edge girl. In our house, whenever something is baked in a 13×9 pan, the corner pieces are usually consumed first… then the remaining side pieces… and last but not least… the middle.

When I happened upon the Bakers Edge Brownie Pan, several weeks ago, I knew I had to have one. After contacting David, I felt like a kid at Christmas. But, then again, patience has never been one of my virtues.

When my Bakers Edge Brownie Pan arrived, I was thrilled. Overall quality is EXCELLENT! It is made of heavy-gauge cast aluminum with easy grip handles. It is NOT a fly-by-night pan.

It is non-stick and very easy to clean. The walls of the Edge Pan have been designed to evenly circulate heat… that means my brownies will never have burnt edges and gooey middles.

The Edge Pan will be great for dishes like lasagna, macaroni and cheese, bar cookies, cornbread and cobblers… all kinds of things. It has been sized to accommodate a 9×9 or 9×13 recipe or box mix.

I decided to use Ghirardelli Walnut Brownie mix, for my trial run. It was the only mix I had, on hand. The directions indicated that I should use an 8 x 8 pan, which worried me a bit, but I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome.

When you are spreading the batter in the pan, you might think that the brownies are going to be skimpy because you should really be using a smaller pan. But, I found that’s not the case. If you prefer super thick brownies, you may want to use a mix that calls for a 13 x 9 pan, instead.

My brownies turned out great. They were moist and chewy with the kind of edges that I love. The only thing I’ll do different the next time I use my Bakers Edge Brownie Pan is let the brownies bake for the entire, recommended, time.

The box said 38 – 42 minutes. I was afraid of over baking them, so I took them out after 35 minutes.

I love my Bakers Edge Pan. I already have quite a long list of recipes I plan on baking in it. It would make a great wedding shower present or a nifty gift for anyone who loves to bake.
