Agatha’s

Atlanta, Georgia 30303

Agatha’s is Atlanta’s original comedy and mystery dinner theater opened since 1987. It’s a dinner theatre that invites audiences to participate and where cast is integrated with the audiences. When you first arrive, you will be greeted by one of the cast members who will brief on your participation level for the night which can include a small speaking part. The dinner and show cost anywhere between $60 to $ 62.50 depending on the day of the week and season . It includes a five course meal, glass of cheap wine, tax and tip. They do have a cash bar to keep your drinks replenished through out the four act play. Don’t expect a big cast though, normally there’s only two actors on hand.

Agatha’s food is passable and the choices are limited (five choices for entrée). You’re paying mostly for the dinner experience which will keep you laughing till your sides hurt. The show is cheesy, but it’s all part of the fun. Overall, if you’re the type of person that doesn’t take yourself too seriously, Agatha’s is a unique and pleasurable dining experience. Dress code is casual and suit and tie are not required, but please don’t wear flip=flops. Get there at least 30 minutes before show time so you can interact with some of your fellow thespians, ahem, diners and so you get top pick of the hor d’oeurvres. Visit their website for reservations and more information.

The New American Shakespeare Tavern
499 Peachtree St NE
Atlanta, Georgia 30308
404-874-5299
www.shakespearetavern.com

One of the best kept secrets in Atlanta, the Shakespeare Tavern is a great place for food and great acting. The food is traditional pub fare with plenty of ales and brews to choose from. Expect some live music, period costumes, and of course, lots of Shakespeare drama. If you flunked your high school English class or you’re afraid you just won’t get Shakespearean plays, rest assured that you will get it. Though the actors in the play really channel the words and actions of the Elizabethan times, the plays really are easy to follow — No Cliff’s Notes required. Patrons are suggested to come early (at least an hour before the show) if they want to have dinner as you can not purchase it while the show is going on. Because of the intimate atmosphere, there really is no bad seat in the theatre. Seating prices vary depending on the season and day of the week from $12 to $ 32. They also have student matinees which are very affordable. Please call the box office at (404) 874-5299 for complete information and ticket pricing.
