Artichoke Tea for Wellness

Artichokes, Digestive Tract

Artichokes are tasty vegetables used to make dips and delicate veggie dishes, but I like to use them to make medicinal tea to help nourish the liver and cleanse the digestive tract naturally. However, to make a medicinal tea using artichokes you have to know how to draw those medicinal properties out of the artichokes properly. When the medicinal artichoke tea is made properly, it will contain antioxidants, anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties and act as a natural diuretic.

Making the Medicinal Artichoke Tea

To make my medicinal artichoke tea I take two whole artichokes and place them in a large pot with a gallon of fresh spring water. Then I boil the artichokes in the spring water on top of the stove with a lid over the pan for 20 minutes.

The reason I keep the lid on the pan while boiling the ingredients is to help keep the medicinal properties inside the tea. Once the artichokes have been boiling in the water for 20 minutes I remove the pan from the stove and allow the artichokes to steep in the water for another 20 minutes to help draw out even more medicinal properties.

After, the 20 minutes is up I open the lid and remove the artichokes carefully with tongs and use them for making artichoke dip, but you can do what you wish with them. Next I pour the homemade medicinal artichoke tea that’s left in the pan into a large pitcher with a half cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice and a half cup of raw honey to help sweeten the tea up.

The reason I add the lemon juice to the tea is that it also contains medicinal properties in it that helps nourishing and cleanse the liver and digestive tract naturally too.

Once the tea has flavor and extra medicinal properties in it, I pour some into a cup and drink it down slowly as it is, or sometimes iced. You can drink the tea whichever way you prefer.

Drinking the Tea for Wellness

When you make artichoke tea it is important to drink it right after to get the potent medicinal properties from it as soon as possible. The longer the tea sits around on the countertop or in the refrigerator, the less potent and healing it will be because it will loose its nutrient content over time.

Anytime I make up a batch of artichoke tea, I like to drink the tea, one cup after another slowly throughout the day until the whole pitcher of artichoke tea is gone. The artichoke tea is cleansing to the body and acts as diuretic and will keep you running to the bathroom, but that is because it is flushing all the harmful bacteria and toxins out of the body so you can feel well and be well.

As you drink the tea, the medicinal properties from it will help rejuvenate the liver and its cells while cleansing the digestive tract from waste build so it can function properly. When the liver and digestive tract are not healthy or functioning properly, the whole body begins to feel sluggish and unwell causing the immune system to weaken which in the end will cause illnesses.
