Of all the different types of clothing that I normally wear the items that I wear perhaps most frequently are flannel lounge pajamas. Just today, my wonderful aunt gave me two more pairs of these comfortable pants to complement the two pairs I already have. She also gave me a pair of cotton/polyester blend lounge pajamas which are lighter and designed for use in warm weather.
In recent years flannel lounge pajamas have become extremely popular across America, both as indoor wear for sleeping and lounging as well as for outdoor wear. Some people however, think that wearing pajama pants outdoors is in bad taste and unacceptable.
While my wearing of flannel lounge pajamas is mostly limited to indoor use, I do occasionally wear them outside on short jaunts such as to the CVS Pharmacy located across the street from my apartment building or the gas station two blocks away.
Funny thing, when I visit that CVS Pharmacy I often see other customers wearing flannel lounge pajamas as outdoor pants. That brings to mind a question I have pondered for some time now. Are flannel lounge pajamas acceptable for outdoor wear ?
The first couple of times I saw people wearing flannel lounge pajamas outdoors I was surprised and mildly amused. Now when I see people wearing these pants outdoors I often think that the person
must be someone who does their own thing without caring about what other people think of them.
In actuality most of the pairs of flannel lounge pajama pants that I have seen feature plaid fabric designs that resemble golfwear or clothing that is worn while boating. To me, they look quite tasteful and can easily be mistaken for regular pairs of pants.
One of the best things about flannel lounge pajamas is how comfortable they feel when they are being worn. The pants are soft and warm but they can be worn year-round in comfort. Most pairs of these pants contain pockets and they feature elastic waistbands which means that no belt is required to hold the pants up.
While I realize that flannel lounge pajamas can’t be worn in most situations or environments, I definitely have come to think that they are an acceptable item to wear outside much of the time. As a matter of fact, I would like to expand the number of places and situations where I do wear them in the future.
One other thing that I like about wearing flannel lounge pajamas outdoors is that it is fun to do so. Whenever I wear these pajama pants outside I feel like I’m doing something unorthodox and unusual and I wonder how many people can tell that I am indeed wearing pajama bottoms.
