Anti-Cellulite Diets: Fact, Myth or Twentieth Century Scams?

Cellulite is a term that describes body fat that has a cottage-cheese-like texture. It is one of our body’s ways of storing extra fat. Generally found in the topmost layer of fat underneath the skin, it is body fat just like the bulges we have on our tummies and just like the fat on other parts of our bodies, it has to be worked off with diet and exercise.

I don’t want to “bust your bubble” here, but the truth is that you can’t tell the body which fat to burn first when you diet. When a reduced-calorie diet and an exercise program are followed, the result will be weight loss – and some of that weight loss will likely be the stored fat known as cellulite.

Those of us who do daily battle with weight control are all eagerly awaiting the day when science announces that body fat has been conquered – that a little magic pill has been developed that will prevent body fat (including cellulite) to develop. We’ll be able to simply swallow one of these little magic pills each morning and then eat like the proverbial horse all day and all night if we want to. The little magic pill will prevent any excess calories from being stored as fat or cellulite. SNAP!

Let’s get back to reality. There’s no such magic pill, and no matter how badly that you’d like for it to be true, you cannot make your body burn certain fat first. Liposuction is an option that works to suck that cellulite right out. As a matter of fact, surgically removing fat cells is the only way to get rid of them.

When we diet and exercise, we shrink the fat cells in our bodies, but the fat cells are still there waiting to be filled up with excess calories again. Still, a good diet that is heavy on fresh fruit, fresh vegetables, and whole grains and light on everything else will eliminate cellulite and other body fat.

By becoming proactive about your health there are easy steps that you can take to reduce the amount of fat you have stored and reduce unnecessary cellulite. The best foods to aid in reducing your fat intake and cleansing your body of stored fat and toxins are fresh fruits and vegetables, specifically organic fruits and vegetables. They contain fiber, phytochemicals and minerals that flush pollutants out of your system.

Here are just a few of the fruits that you should include on your next grocery lists: blueberries and blackberries; cherries; mangoes; spinach; tomatoes; bell peppers; apples and carrots. If you keep your diet high in the essential fatty acids and antioxidant minerals your body’s fat metabolism will be balanced.

Finally don’t forget how critical it is to your success that you exercise on a daily basis. By consistently increasing your circulation, toning muscles, and doing exercises that home these areas more prone to get cellulite like your thighs, you can drastically reduce and possibly eliminate your cellulite.

Is there an anti cellulite diet that works? If you consider a well balanced diet, proper exercise and attention to your overall health an anti-cellulite diet, then the answer is yes.
