A Review of Suave Versus Dove Deodorant

Underarms

Always on the search for a good smelling and long lasting deodorant, I tried both Suave Naturals deodorant and Dove Original Clean to find out the difference between the two.

Dove Original clean deodorant comes in a white container with a translucent blue cap. Upon opening the product, a clear covering protects the deodorant from tampering and is quickly removed by pulling on the plastic tip. The words “Dove” are imprinted on the top of the concave shaped deodorant. They disappear after a few uses. Dove invisible solid deodorant comes in four scents: original clean, radiant silk, fresh, powder and gragrence-free sensitive skin. I have tried original clean, which has a light floral scent; powder which smells like light baby powder and fresh which has a deeper floral scent than the original. All are pleasant to the olfactory system. The deodorant goes on smoothly, and clear although it is white in the container. Your skin is soft to the touch after use and not sticky or pasty unlike after most deodorant applications. In fact, Dove has the 7 day challenge stating that you will have softer, smoother underarms in just 7 days of use. This test passed with flying colors! Their new line, Ultimate Clear boasts softer underarms in just 5 days, getting you ready for the sleeveless season of summer. You can take the 5 day test and get a free sample at their website. You can also get other free samples of Dove products at their website: www.dove.com.

Suave Naturals is a new line of invisible solid deodorant from Suave. This deodorant comes in a colorful container of light blue and pink. As promised, the product glides on clear, although not as smooth as the Dove product. Suave Naturals comes in a variety of scents: Soothing Aloe, Tropical Paradise, Violet, Raspberry, Pacific Breeze, Cucumber Melon and Sweet Pea scent. I tried the Sweet Pea scent, which smells like the sweet pea lotion you can find at Bath and Body Works. It has a light to medium floral, sweet smelling scent that is very pleasant and can be smelled throughout the day. Suave is working on promoting its products specifically for busy mothers. This product’s delicious scents are designed to give busy moms an intoxicating scent other than those they may smell every day with their children such as dirty diapers! You can check out this and other Suave products at their website: www.suave.com.

When comparing these products (used on the same day, just different underarms), I found that the Dove glided on much more smoothly than the Suave. Neither posed a problem for use after having just shaved. The scents were both very good and lasted throughout the day. At the end of the evening, just before bed, I noticed the Suave Sweet Pea scent was slightly stronger than the Dove one, but there was an almost negligible difference. As far as the deodorant working, both products delivered good results in providing good protection that lasted the entire day. The Suave Sweet Pea deodorant however had left a white residue underneath my arm that was sticky and clumpy. The Dove deodorant however was still clear without residue. The prices between the two deodorants are pretty similar, with both being about two dollars and change. Either deodorant would be a good choice but I prefer the Dove due to the smoothness of application and underarms with use, great scent, long lasting protection throughout the day and no sticky or white residue.
