A Review of Crayola Bath Tub Crayons

Bath Product, Bath Time, Crayola, Crayons

Bath time is a favorite for many toddlers and youngsters. Bath toys make this time even more fun. We are all familiar with squirt toys and rubber ducks but how about drawing in the tub? The Crayola Bath product line brings the color, fun, creativity and imagination of the Crayola brand to bath time with Crayola Bath Tub Crayons.

These bath crayons are unique in the fact that each crayon is encased in a plastic sheath, with only the drawing tip exposed. This keeps your child’s hands from being soiled with the colors. There is a little white tab that can be clicked up to expose more of the crayon when it gets dull (and can be moved back too if need be). The crayon can be clicked up 5 times (for a total of 6 settings). The crayons come packaged in a little clear plastic tray with 6 slots, one for each crayon. This tray is perfect for post-bath storage.

According to the Crayola packaging, the crayons are “Not recommended for use in older tubs or showers that are in poor condition. Product will not leave a residue on a clean tub that is in good repair and clean from dirt/oils, however, product may stain certain porous surfaces such as unsealed tile grout.” I recommend cleaning the tub immediately to reduce the chance of staining! Do not let the crayons come in contact with materials such as wood, wallpaper, painted surfaces, vinyl, carpeting, and other materials that cannot be washed or laundered. They claim that the crayons shouldn’t stain towels, linen, or textile products if they are washed/cleaned immediately after they become discolored. I have found this to be true.

My daughter just loves these crayons! She can draw with different colors and be distracted while I am washing her hair. These are beneficial for parents and kids! Some other brands of bath crayons only leave smudges, while these are of much better quality and leave much finer lines. And of course, another perk is that they are made by Crayola so the colors are rich and vibrant.

There are only a couple of negative aspects about this product. One is that the crayons themselves are much smaller than what they seem. The actual crayola is only about 2 inches, so they don’t last too long, but for just $2.99-$4.99 per set, they are well worth it! Another problem is that my daughter doesn’t want to get out of the tub! I suppose her enjoyment is worth it though. I must also add to make it very clear to your child that these crayons may be for tub walls, but NO crayons are for other walls. My child has misunderstood that!

So overall, I would recommend the Crayola Bath Tub Crayon Set. The age requirement says 3 and up but I have let my 2 year old use them. If they are good about not putting things in their mouths I see no problem with giving them to a slightly younger child under close supervision, of course. These would make a great stocking stuffer, so go to Wal-Mart in time for the holidays and pick up a set or two! Happy Bath Time!
