Yellowstone National Park is one of the most visited, and famous of all the parks. And there is no reason to stay away because anyone is handicapped. They have a good amount of handicapped accessible lodging and vacation activities in Yellowstone National Park. It is not an easy thing to do in a park of this size, with all the wilderness areas, but there are hiking trails and Ranger led activities that are handicapped accessible and let you get a look at some of the most popular sections of the park, for a very enjoyable vacation experience. As the years go by, there will probably be more areas made available, but only if the handicapped population takes advantage of what Yellowstone already offers.
Call the park as far in advance of your vacation trip as possible and let them know exactly what kind of handicapped accommodations you need. In addition to the fully handicapped accessible locations listed here, they have some that only have one or two steps, and if that is doable, then it gives you more to choose from.

Grant Village Vicinity Accessible Features
At Grant Village, there are handicapped accessible rooms on the first floor. The handicapped accessible features include the restaurant and snack stand and the general store, Rest Rooms that are handicapped accessible are in the Yellowstone General Store, Restaurant, Visitor Center (with assistance) and Campground (Loop A). Handicapped Parking is available in front of Lodging Registration Building, the Restaurant, all of the accessible lodging facilities, Visitor Center, Post Office, which is also handicapped accessible. and Yellowstone General Store.
The West Thumb Area is a great vacation place in the park that is handicapped adaptable and is near Grant Village. The Information Station and upper loop are accessible. Lower loop has grades up to 10%, but no steps. Accessible Rest Rooms are near the center of the parking lot. Canyon Lodge, Lake Yellowstone Hotel,, Mammoth Hotel has handicapped accessible rooms, but the bathrooms are not, Old Faithful Inn and Old Faithful Snow Lodge all have handicapped accessible rooms. Some bathrooms have roll in showers, some do not.
As for things to see and do on your vacation, Lower Geyser Basin has a handicapped accessible back country site, the only handicapped accessible area in the Geyser section. The Ice Lake Trail is a day hiking site that is handicapped accessible, but help may be needed getting up some of the grades. No steps though. West Thumb Geyser Basin Trail has a slight incline, but it is a boardwalk and with a little help, very handicapped accessible. The short loop from the parking lot past the Dragon’s Mouth and the Mud Volcano is handicapped accessible.
