A Good Deal for a Low Price, the Element 32″ LCD TV

I was thinking about getting a new TV for a while now. There sat my old fat TV that lacked High-Definition or HDMI inputs. As I had been buying other things with my newly acquired job I had been saving up for a new TV. It was getting around the time of Thanksgiving and Black Friday when I spotted the perfect TV, the Element 32″ LCD. Only 400$ on Black Friday and it was the perfect deal. I waited all night with me and my friends and had finally purchased it after the long hours outside in the cold along buying a few other items.

After bringing it home I knew it was just right for my room. The size was perfect for it’s stand. I turned on the fresh out of the box TV and was soon positioned with the remote in my hand and the Element logo flashed on the screen. After connecting all the components to the back I was switching through the channels and using my other devices in no time.

Navigation

I soon had the the cable all setup correctly just through the normal cable wire without the cable box. The TV had automatically adjusted to the channels without any programming required. I flipped through the menus observing the different options and it had the normal Sleep Timer, CC (Closed Captioning), Contrast, Brightness, Saturation, Hue, Sharpness, Color Temperature, Parental Controls, and different Picture Modes. Not only those options were available however. There was also its own Audio, TV, Video, Setup sections. The TV section had some good options as well. Like channel scanning, channel skipping, and what type of setup you have either Over The Air broadcasting or cable.

Inputs

Possibly one of the many reasons I chose this TV was particularly all of the inputs that it provided. The inputs it consisted of was 1 HDMI input, 1 VGA input, 1 S-Video Connection, 2 Component inputs (Red, Blue, Green), 2 Composite inputs (red, yellow, white), and the cable connection.

Outputs

I was surprised at one of the outputs that it had. The optical output for Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound. This was a great output considering that I haven’t seen it on other TVs and that it provided outstanding sound quality for home theater setups. Not only did it have the optical cable though it also had the stereo/mono audio cables (red and white). Which was easy to connect directly to my home theater receiver since my optical input was already taken up by my Xbox 360 connection.

Features

As if this TV wasn’t good enough it additionally had nifty features. One of the cool features was the automatic powering on, yeah I know sounds weird huh? Well lets say you have a game console attached to one of your inputs. When you turn on the game console it will turn on the TV along with it! This was a great feature considering I game a lot and its just better to turn on one thing and have everything else turn on along with it. Another interesting feature was that the buttons to control the TV that were on itself or the front of itself (power, volume, channel, input buttons) weren’t just normal buttons, they were touch. When taking the TV out of the box at first I placed it on the stand and had looked at it momentarily to soon realize where the buttons were. After fiddling around with it I figured out that they were just touch. Just gently stroking my finger across the power button immediately turned the unit on. I thought this was a really cool feature and I had never seen this done on a television before.

Overall

After further long term use of using the Element 32″ LCD TV I’ve really enjoyed having it. I’ve loved having the LCD considering that it doesn’t have burn-ins unlike plasma when I’m sitting in game lobbies waiting for games to start and accidentally leaving on things at menu screens. Overall however this TV is awesome and Element has really surprised me since it’s not a huge name like Sony or Panasonic and I would definitely get another one of their products again.
